I am on vacation next Saturday - Sept. 12 is much better.

There's lots of sizeable coffee/tea houses around the city with wifi where
you can lounge all day... I can suggest some in Brooklyn that might work. I
think a reasonable number of the local organizers live there. There should
be some good options in downtown Manhattan as well that should be workable
on the weekend. I don't think we need a formal meeting room for the org
meeting.

That's as good a weekend as any.... if we can get it organized in time.

Someone suggested NYU would be a good venue if we can find an affiliated
sponsor. Some of the larger NGOs (Red Cross of Greater NY) and UN agencies
have appropriate facilities as well, but I'm not in position to volunteer
them.

There is already a ning site set up -
http://crisiscampnyc.ning.com/ where
some of us who were interested in organizing this registered. That may be a
good place to pick up the organization aspects.... I'm copying others
who've joined the conversation that I'm not sure are on the general
crisiscamp list. We should probably set up a crisiscampnyc google group as
well...
