Topic: Basics of Crisis Information Management
Summary
In the last year we have seen how digital disaster response volunteers can provide assistance to disaster affected communities through the Internet. In this session, Gisli Olafsson will provide an introduction to some of the key principles of crisis information management. Gisli has in the past taught information management courses, for the United Nations and European Commission, aimed at information management professionals in humanitarian coordination teams. In this session he will take some of the key principles from those courses and present them with the digital disaster response community in mind. Special focus will be put on data processing and analysis. Concepts such as collation, verification, triangulation and making information actionable are introduced.
We hope you can all join us.
