New England GiveCamp (http://newenglandgivecamp.org, April 29 – May 1) is a community-driven weekend ‘hackathon’ for non-profits. About two-dozen non-profits and 100 technical volunteers of various technology backgrounds will descend on Microsoft NERD in Cambridge for a weekend of working on websites, logos and design elements, copy, and other custom software solutions, pro bono, on behalf of the non-profits. Last year there were about 130 participants working on behalf of 24 New England charities (list: http://newenglandgivecamp.org/24-charities-48-hours/) with an estimated $170,000 of services donated.
We are actively soliciting non-profit projects from around the area (see http://newenglandgivecamp.org/non-profits) as well as sponsorships to fund the event (http://newenglandgivecamp.org/sponsors). Look for volunteer sign-up around the first week of March, and follow us on Twitter at @NEGiveCamp to keep tab on the event preparations.
