Hi All,
Meet Brendan, he is looking into how long term we want to capture the image taxonomy in a way that translators can author/update it and applications can use (directly or after machine translation).
I am currently swamped coordinating some of the actual development threads, so I am hoping he can help us all connect a little better as we start to move on the picto stuff.

Dave,
This is a fantastic start. Thank you. I think we might be in good hands re: image taxonomy and UI design. First, Chris Blow has already done great work creating an image taxonomy for crisis/relief related icons.
Second, we have two interaction designers coming to the Boulder/Denver camp today. I've not yet met them, but hopefully one or both will want to jump in.
Thanks,

Hi All,
As you know we will be kicking of the DC CrisisCamp tomorrow, which is where the bulk of the current mobile app folks are including Chris Selmer who is leading the effort.
I’m not sure if you had discussions on this with anyone else from the mobile team yet. I have been researching and working on a prototype of a Pict-o-speak mobile application for the last couple of days. One thing that seems very clear to from this work is that the design of the navigation path is pretty important. Would some of you be good resources to discuss what kind of image tree we want? And do you have any resources you could point us at, especially for emergency/disaster like situations?
I think our end state will be to somehow allow you and others who are familiar with the space (including folks on the ground) to update the tree and others to be able to submit images. That may allow us to quickly grow a robust set of images.
FYI, I’ve pulled together a wiki page with the basics of supporting Pict-o-speak on mobile - http://wiki.crisiscommons.org/wiki/Pict-o-speak_Mobile_Application.
Thanks
