Offline data I/O, reporting, etc

James' 'Reality check' appropriately brings up the topic
of how to import/export Excel spreadsheets...and Silva's for audio/
video from mobile phones. Drupalers: how is this best done in the
context of workflow? The upload module as part of a CCK node/
create..edit?

Other question is aggregation to higher level reports. We can leverage
GIS and SDE to aggregate according to administrateive boundaries, etc,
but, particularly if we are using CCK node references, how are things
like SQL "SUM" and "AVERAGE" operators best performed?

There is a module for that. Views_calc, http://drupal.org/project/views_calc
I've used it effectively for an NGO site calculating funding score
sums and averages in table views. We submitted a patch to improve the
UI here:
http://drupal.org/node/622116

Also the CCK computer field module can help out in sticky situations
where you need to do some math.

OK - can we set up a process to clean up Excel spreadsheets, and add
two very important columns to them? latitude and longitude.

is this a row-by-row thing?

There are already a lot of different kinds of spreadsheets...just for
Haiti. We want something general, if possible..
