Dear all,

On Thursday 21 February, join developer Richard Dent for an introduction
to Crowd Aid Exchange
<http://e.groupspaces.com/click/2ww9z-1ego9-2eowf8zfr7?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcrowdaidexchange.eventbrite.com%2F>

and a discussion on the use of peer-to-peer social networking technology
to empower people before, during and after disasters.

And register now to put your skills to use solving real food security
challenges at the Innovation and Development Hackathon .

Last year's Global Health Hackathon generated some incredible,
innovative ideas. A couple of the ideas have since even moved into
prototype phase. The teams will be multidisciplinary, and we definitely
welcome ICT thinking and approaches.

If you have any questions, please get in contact with Anne Radl at

Hope to see you soon!

Crowd Aid Exchange is a new project, developed by Cambridge graduate
student Richard Dent, to realise technology's potential to provide
secure resource trading, people finding, news aggregation and efficient
communication for isolated people.

As climate change-related disasters continue to push governments and
NGOs' resources beyond capacity, Crowd Aid Exchange looks to the power
of the populace to help one another find effective, efficient solutions
to problems that occur during disaster situations.

Crowd Aid Exchange builds on a rapidly growing sector of crowd source
technology which includes Google Response, Ushahidi and American Red
Cross's digital operations.

The event will include a 45 minute talk about the project by developer
Richard Dent, including highlights from existing platforms and academic
research in this field. A panel of experts will feedback on the
challenges and opportunities they see for the project, and the audience
will be invited to join the discussion.
