Wehave reprogrammed Used ECM from time to time on AUDI's. So its not my first one. Re-running special function>SVM software routines run successfully and report ECM and TCM are at the most current level. But when I select the ECM module>Guided function> and run the ECM coding function, it will eventually report a problem and provides a code ERP 0617E and message to call ODIS support.
The engine starts and runs fine, but I have not driven it. Anyone ever experience anything like this and Have any luck with getting this sorted out? suggestions for how to figure out what the current module thinks is installed, and how to correct it?
I ran into this issue recently on a mk7 golf. My part number were a match but software wasn't. You need to get hold of Odis engineering unless your Odis version can do it directly and flash to the same software as the original unit. There is a website that hosts flash files so you can download them separately. The numbers circled in red need to match.
The tool I use for flashing modules is VCP. For programming modules I use AVDI or VVDI in conjunction with autotuner or magic flexBtw both vvdi and avdi will flash modules also so vcp not really needed but vcp is very powerful scan tool that can do all kind of parametrization and stuff. For starters vvdi is great tool to have for vag and not expensive.
I have I plugged in the original ECM and read modules, here is photo of the result along with a photo from the Used module. If I understand things correctly, the original ECM appears to be SW 3669, and TCM SW 3128.the Used part showing ECM SW 3670, with TCM SW 3128. its very close but the used part is one version newer than the original.
Bojan,Thank you or sharing your knowledge. This is very helpful information. One thing I noticed at the VAG-Flashinfo site is the listing shows 2 files, but I didn't see any descriptions for each file. So if there were to be 3 or more files is there a way to decode the differences?I still need to do some reading on ODIS-E versions and compatibility with our VCI etc. and VVDI..
