Oncethe driver for the USB dongle is installed, it is possible to uninstall DriverMax8 from Add Remove Programs. Although you will need to manually delete c:\program files(x86)\Innovative Solutions since the DriverMax uninstaller is sloppy.

The actual driver is Svk2pl64.sys it is available from the Microsoft Update Catalog here:

=bad0b774-dce2-483e-a17e-1a7dc733e7d3 but you will need to use IE9 for this link or Chrome. It will come down as a cab file, extract from there then right-click the unknown device in device manager and install it. It is a Vista driver with both 32bit and 64 bit versions and should install in win 7/8/10. The actual chip is a Prolific chip with a modded USB ID you may be able to force-install an older Prolific driver on it.

Hi, I recently had the driver issue with a Prolific USB to serial cable on windows 10, this website proved to be very informative -usb-to-serial-fix-official-solution-to-code-10-error Apparently the info there is sourced from I hope this heIps

If this is your adapter - then it is based on Prolific PL2303 chipset and your best bet would be to use the drivers from the chipset manufacturer. But if your adapter contains an old revision of the chip - it is just not compatible with Windows 8:

The adapter you are referring to is not compatible with Windows 8, and even updating the drivers will not make it work either since it most likely has the old version of the Prolific chipset. A solution would be using an FTDI based USB-to-serial converter which has better drivers and is compatible with Windows 8.

I'm trying to use a Gigaware USB to serial adapter on my new computer. It worked fine with Windows Vista and XP, but not on Windows 8. It's not working and I get this message under device properties in the device manager.

I tried downloading a different driver that I found in this post This device cannot start. (Code 10) - Gigaware USB - Serial Adapter regarding this same problem on here, not sure how I manually add it or if it needs to be downloaded in a specific location to even work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I have a few handheld radios that I need to update the frequencies and when I connect to the USB, it fails to connect. In device manager and Ports it says - "Please install corresponding PL2303 driver to support Windows 11 and further OS"

Hello! You've posted your question in the Tech Community Discussion space, which is intended for discussion around the Tech Community website itself, not product questions. I'm moving your question to the Windows 11 space - please post Windows 11 questions here in the future.

Windows 11 update loaded Prolific PL2303 driver 3.8.40.0 and when I go to device manager it says "Please install corresponding PL2303 driver to support Windows 11 and further OS" This driver does not even attempt to communicate with my X10 CM11 hooked to my serial port. I had to go to Prolific website and load their current driver 3.6.81.357. (uninstall driver first) Serial to X10 device now working fine. Don't install Windows update for Prolific or it will change it back.

I tried the Type 0, 4, 5 and 6 with CAD PD II using SO OPOS supplied drivers and it didn't work. I even tried the weightronics OPOS and it didn't work. I was not able to able to enable the device using the weightronics utility, however, I was able to "OPEN" and

"CLAIM DEVICE" successful for some reason. I am using serial to USB cable and it came with its own driver [gigaware cable] which I installed but the scale is not working. Could you please help me set this up at your earliest convenience?

You just need the driver supplied by Datalogic however you need to go in the registry and change the values like COM port number, single/dual cable, baud rates to match what you have set in the Magellan, metric/imperial weight etc

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. No, I actually used the built in OPOS driver from Microsoft and configured the scale to work with the NCI-ECR protocol (type 4 I think). The one made by CAS is garbage and actually doesn't let us certify the scale in Canada because it permits you to weigh at 0.000 kg and when the scale is in motion the OPOS driver sends a weight of 0. This is not permissible by Canadian Weight and Measures standards. So I found that the default scale driver from Microsoft works as it should.

I will be moving from PC to Mac, but will need to run a Windows application that uses a serial port, using boot camp. Would I be right in thinking I would need to install this adapter under Windows using a Windows driver?

Loaded it all up fine, however my main purpose was that so I can telnet to devices on the serial port.

My question is running the telnet what would I put after the telnet command to identify the port,

Prolific seem to be deliberately isolating compatibility against these devices in the newest Windows drivers, and wondered if thats the same with the mac drivers. Its just not worth wasting time putting in drivers to have to fight them out again when prolific deliberately make them to not work.

Fazed, I would l look baud rate you are using for your device. I just had a similar issue connecting to an APC UPS management interface. if you are using screen try this command: screen /dev/cu.usbserial (Baud Rate). The baud rate is standard 9600 but you can change it by typing in the baud rate you wanna use i.e. 2400.
