Iwent to install Malwarebytes today and my windows defender keeps blocking it. I use norton360 (part of a promotion with lifelock) and Windows Defender isn't even enabled. If I am able to run the installer it's automatically closed out....
I have tried different browsers and rebooting my machine with no luck.
It seems to me that Norton360 is preventing the use of either the Malwarebytes Support tool or the Malwarebytes stub installer file. The act of installing the Norton360 would turn off Microsoft Defender from being the resident antivirus. The resident A-V is in fact Norton360. You may wind up having to turn off Norton ( temporarily) before attempting install of Malwarebytes.
1. Download the offline Malwarebytes for Windows installer from here
2. Now, go to where the file was saved. Right-click on the mb4-consumer-4.4.3.225.....exe and select Run as Administrator and allow it to go forward.
3. After the Malwarebytes for Windows is done with the setup.
Start Malwarebytes. Click Settings ( gear ) icon. Next, lets make real sure that Malwarebytes does NOT register with Windows Security Center
Click the Security Tab. Scroll down to
"Windows Security Center"
Click the selection to the left for the line "Always register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center".
Thank you for those new FRST reports. Now we will do a new custom-script-fix. The aim here is to pre-empt MS Defender from tagging Malwarebytes as "unwanted application". That is, to help prevent what it had done to mess-up the run to install Malwarebytes. It is really quite a big surprise to see it do that.
Yeah this is what I was saying at the start. I get Norton through LifeLock so it's what I would like to continue using (unless you have other recommendations). From what I can see defender is turned off which is why I'm confused how this issue is happening at all.....
I will want you to try to use a different web browser. Plus see if at all possible, to save the download to a flash-thumb-USB drive ( in the hope of getting around the blockage ) and ideally do the download on a different machine ( other than this one with the issue).
After the update, when I load on to MSFS, I get a notification saying Windows defender firewall blocked some of the features in this app? I have to allow access every time. It says the path is D:4/flightsimulator.exe. My sim is installed on the C drive. I have nothing in my community folder. Has anyone else had this and is there a way to fix it? Thanks.
For me it is not being inappropriately tagged by windows, windows literally sees it as a new game every time it loads from a new imaginary place. All new games have to prompt to access the internet.
Definitely a bug in software. We should all report the bug to Zendesk.
Thanks for the suggestion @TenPatrol ! I am not sure if this will work because I have a lot of permissions on firewall. Each time appears a different number. In this last example that happened today, the number was 4 (Sorry the Windows message is in Portuguese).
Microsoft does not want Defender to be turned off completely. Therefore, when defender is turned off, windows update or windows component is trying to repair Defender and as a result Defender may become corrupt. Of course a malicious program may also corrupt Defender completely. (If there is no different security software in windows, when Defender is turned off)
Microsoft is constantly taking new measures because it does not want Defender to be turned off. There is a possibility that Windows Defender may be corrupted among these measures. Therefore We will no longer update this program

Trying to start the warframe game trough steam but it keeps blasting me with "Administrator privileges required to set firewall rules" so i dissabled my windows firewall to see if it fixes it it starts but now i have no idea how i can get the exclusinveor the privileges to this thing so it can set firewall rules
If there's a Steam icon on your desktop, simply right-clicking it will allow to choose "run as administrator".
oh boi thrust me ive done all i could to get it i spent 4hhours shearching for the internet for awnser its just kills me windows defender is blocking it somehow and not registering that it has previligies lossing all hope here
ive given the warframe launcher and Warframe.x64 to pass trough firewall and its still blasting me with that damn screen come the heck on can some mod or someone contact me
i feel like this is some big issue some users after some updates and everyone had got no awnser from anyone to fix this issue im not going to reinstall entire windows to get warframe working
I know this is not right but I have to ask is the download safe for 3d slicer I am being blocked by Microsoft windows 10 Defender is gives me the option to Report the file as safe i have no idea how many people get this far and then just hit delete , just let me know maybe if enough people Reported it safe this Block would go away.
Whenever I launch bf 2042 it loads normally until it gets to "Connecting to online services" and I get a "Windows defender has blocked some features of this app" popup where I can choose to allow it but I haven't been able to allow it since it just completely crashes my entire pc forcing me to hard shut down my computer.
I fixed it by going into windows defender, inbound rules, locating battlefield 2042 with an X, clicking on properties and allowing the connection.
Although I have a new problem now, It loaded up perfectly and it calibrated my settings which it then promptly turned into a black screen and froze my entire pc, I'm losing my mind over this game, now I cant even get past the first loading screen without it completely freezing my pc.
When i launch game in some pcs i get a message from windows like a blue box saying the application is not trusted or something like that. I need to accept the application to make it run, i have heard you need a windows certification to make it trusted, someone knows how it works and where to buy it?
Answer (1 of 4): Receiving the "This app has been blocked for your protection" error message while trying to install or run an application in Windows means that the operating system's security features have prevented the app from running.Before...
Hi so I just make my first game done in Unity 2020 verison. I build the game and there was 0 errors in the build, and after I test it and it runs great. But after I upload the build as a zip fille to
gamejolt.com or
itch.io. Something wired starting to happen. You can download the game, but windows defender wont let the open. I dont know why or how to fix it. Like there is no virus in the game or anything. I just do a build from the Unity build. It says that is a unknown publisher and wont let the open. I then try to make the game intro just a exe fille but the something happen. So I am not sure what to do now. A littel bit lost. Hope there is someone can maybe knows how to fix it or what going on. Thanks!
Thanks, i will give it a try. But in your games can anyone run them, without seen that windows defender pop up? I have seen a lot of Unity games and games on gamejolt when you just download them and they will work, without that windows defender pop up. So there have to be a way I think. But will chek the link that you send me. Thanks
Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring disables the first one, what are the specific switches to disable the others you see when you open the UI? I have not found a clear example of this in the docs and I don't feel like running EVERY disable switch because MS docs are bad.
I needed to disable Windows defender because I installed a software which I modified with orca (MSI modification), and defender kind of blocked it.Found this "long" solution on this link. I tested it on Windows 10 version 21H2. It gives me then the following answer, which looks good.
Wait a second for it all to run, then reboot, & then all except WinDefend will be disabled.Somehow WinDefend will be set to Manual, & so it tries starting, but fails since we changed its exe to different lolbin that does nothing with 0 args. Ignore that service:We have great success of "completely turned off Windows Defender"
It's not recommended to turn off Windows Defender completely as it provides essential security features to your Windows operating system. However, if you need to disable it temporarily for troubleshooting or other reasons, you can do so using PowerShell with administrator privileges.
