I can no longer scan using the MF Toolbox utility. I had MF Toolbox 4.9 installed before the upgrade, and it worked just fine. After the upgrade, I get "Cannot communicate with the scanner" error dialog:

Also, to get the old toolbox uninstalled, I had to reboot into safe mode. Otherwise the uninstaller just hung. Then booted back into regular mode, removed all traces of the existing printer, then reinstalled the new software and it works great.

I just did the Windows 10 April 2018 update to version 1803 and Toolbox FAILED to run again. (See image below) My Canon Printer imageCLASS MF4100 series was selected as default and it did work as a printer.

After April's Windows Update I managed to reinstall everything (drivers and MF Toolbox) with all aplications closed and antivirus protection turned off. It worked perfectly until the May's Windows Update. I think I installed Canon's patch directly after it stopped working (I think it helped) and then another part of Windows Update came in. After that I tried everything with no effect...

Thanks to Wolrabs advice, if I run MF Toolbox as administrator it works fine from computer. If it's not run as administrator I get message (my translation): "None of the supported scanners are installed. Install a supported scanner, and then restart the Toolbox."

But when I try to scan from my printer then if MF Toolbox is not run as administrator I just wait with no effect. If Toolbox has administrator rights then I get message (my translation): "The MF Toolbox Program supported by your scanner may not be installed on your computer. Install the appropriate MF Toolbox program and try Again".

My solution for now is to run Remote Desktop (on my phone or tablet), when I'm in another room and need to scan something directly from printer I just take control of my desktop and use Toolbox remotely. Maybe it's not very comfortable (not as comfortable as it was before Windows Update), but still better than running to my computer after each scanned page to run scan for next page

After June's Windows Update and not doing anything else, my MF Toolbox is fully operational again (both scanning from computer and from pronter is possible). I didn't reinstall it nor changed anything since my last problem occured.

UPDATE 18 June 2018
On saturday scanning was working, during sunday Windows run some installing process in background (but I didn't see it in windows update or something). Today (on monday) scanning is not working (I had to set administrator provilige to Toolbox).

I was able to fix the issue...for now...using the "Patch for Network Scan, USB Scan" provided by Canon under Support for my printer model. This was after uninstalling and reinstalling MF Toolbox using normal Windows mode, safe mode, and Revo Uninstaller; as well as updating the settings under Services > Windows Image Acquisition properties, Log On and Recovery tabs (none of which worked on its own).

Hopefully I won't be back on this forum again, as this is at least the third time MF Toolbox has suddenly lost the ability to communicate with my scanner despite the print function remaining consistent.

When I asked Canon about: "Of course, there are several steps to scan problems after upgrading Windows" What does it mean and what are the problems? - Canon was not replied more...

I think no one knows what's happening. I was using my scanner since june or july and everything was working fine. Today I discovered, that again, it stopped working. Only administrator priviliges given to Toolbox let me scan from computer. Scanning directly from device (which is very useful) is not possible. I have no idea what is causing the problem randomly...

- Not de-installing and re-installing the latest 64-bit drivers, MF Toolbox, or the scanner patch in either Safe Mode or regular mode or with Windows anti-virus turned off (as others have recommended in this thread).

- When you uninstall all drivers and Canon apps, reboot, disable anti-virus and try to install drivers, then do you see your device on the list? (if you install it as wireless it should appear on the list)

Legacy desktop solution. Docker Toolbox is for older Mac and Windows systems that do not meet the requirements of Docker for Mac and Docker for Windows. We recommend updating to the newer applications, if possible.

The boot2docker approach is nicely portable to different kinds of VMMs beyond Hyper-V, and allows us to keep our investments in virtual machines created, but has significant disadvantage - they do not run Windows-based containers.

Hi, I am having windows 8 system. When I try to install docker for windows it is showing out of memory. So I used docker toolbox. Can I use docker toolbox instead of docker for windows. Docker and docker toolbox work like same ? or is there any problem of using docker toolbox.

I am running Windows 10 Enterprise 2017 (so not really a legacy windows). I have Virtual Box 5.2.x installed and running, and I am not inclined to give it up yet. Now I need to do docker development (build new docker). So I am also facing the same question: Docker for Windows or Docker Toolbox? BTW, I am behind a proxy/firewall.

Then I tried to download and set up DockerTool. This time at least I am able to run the dockertoolbox.exe and get to installation selection. One of the checkbox is VirtualBox. Since I already have virutalbox installed, I unchecked it. Then proceeded with installation. Installation did finish without error.

OK. Docker engine apparently is not started. So how to start the docker engine? Is docker engine supposed to be a process running on Windows, or in VirtualBox? Can I manually use my own VirtualBox console to bring up docker engine image?

I see its already answered in above comments but my one cent :
Docker toolbox is used with virtualization enabled
Docker desktop is used with Hyper-V
The problem is if we turn on Hyper-V we cannot use Virtualization dependent s/w eg - Virtualbox which will cause issue if you turn on Hyper-V so its a hard decission to make

Reveal the desktop or start work from scratch. Depending on which option you select, this tool will minimize all opened windows or exit all applications that are visible in the Mac Dock with one click.

Extract text from an image file. Just drop an image on the tool and it will scan the image for any text by running an optical character recognition (OCR) process and present editable text as a result.

Reveal the desktop or start work from scratch. Depending on which option you select, this tool will minimize all opened windows or exit all applications that are visible in the taskbar with one click.

Clean up junk files, temporary files, and other unnecessary data from your computer, move and resize windows using keyboard shortcuts or snap areas, and remove applications and their files from your Mac.

Use Energy Saver to extend your battery life. This tool automatically detects when your computer is not plugged into a power source and several energy-saving settings that are usually hidden deep inside the operating system.

Parallels Toolbox has 56 tools on Mac and 48 on Windows. The tools cover a wide range of functionality, which can be found nowhere else. Some alternative solutions offer these functionalities separately and for a higher price (if combined). With Parallels Toolbox you do not need to search for, install, and pay for separate applications. All the tools are provided in a single application and a launcher in the Menu bar.

But Parallels Toolbox is much more than just a Mac cleaning solution. It improves not only system performance, but helps you increase productivity, simplifies your daily actions, and improves the processes around downloading and working with media.

Yes, it is completely safe. Parallels Toolbox contains different tools that interact with different parts of the computer system. You can choose what functions of Parallels Toolbox you want to use. If a specific tool requires access to certain parts of your computer, it will request it when you launch that exact tool. Then the necessary access will be provided to this tool only. If another tool requires the same access privileges, it will request them when it is launched.

I am trying to run MLife without MATLAB on my 64bit Windows OS. I have found the 32bit version, but it does not work. I would appreciate it very much, if you can provide access to the proper MCR installer.

I read the discussion above and realise that i have the same problem.
In fact, i downloaded the MCRInstaller from the link provided by Jason Jonckman. Unfortunately, my pc is 64 bit and the file when installed contains only files for windows 32 bits.

Problem:When I try to run the toolbox on my 32-bit version of Windows I get the following error message:java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "...\WFDB_Toolbox\mcode\nativelibs\windows-x86\bin\rdsamp": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(Unknown Source) at org.physionet.wfdb.Wfdbexec.execToDoubleArray(Unknown Source)Caused by: java.io.IOException: CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified at java.lang.ProcessImpl.create(Native Method) at java.lang.ProcessImpl.(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ProcessImpl.start(Unknown Source)

Solution:There are a couple of options that you can try to increase or make memory management more efficient when using the WFDB Toolbox. The following list of suggestions can be used either in combination of by themselves:

  • Increase MATLAB's Java heap size. For information on how to do thatplease see The MathWorks note.
  • Read only the signal that you are interested in processing. Forexample, if you interested in only processing the first signal, youcan do run the command:[sig, Fs, t] = rdsamp('mghdb/mgh073',[1]);
  • Read only a section of the signal at a time. For example, you cando run the command to read the first 1,000 samples of all signals:[sig, Fs, t] = rdsamp('mghdb/mgh073',[],1000);
  • Consider reading signals in another datatype besides double precision (which is the default for a variable in MATLAB).Reading signals in single precision with RDSAMP is a natural first choice, which will minimize the memory requirements by half, if there is no need for double precision accuracy. To read the signals with double precision set the 'rawUnits' flag to '2', for example:[sig, Fs, t] = rdsamp('mghdb/mgh073',[],[],[],2); For more information on other options on the datatypes please see the help in RDSAMP.
  • Why are WFDB Toolbox for MATLAB commands sometimes unable to read remote data?Problem: Using software based on the WFDB library, such as the WFDB Toolbox for MATLAB,it should be possible to read PhysioBank data directly from PhysioNet (i.e., without downloading files first). For example, after starting MATLAB and installing the WFDB Toolbox, this command should not result in an error:
