COUNT DOWN!
An Update on the Regional Disability Round Table Forum

Published on 01 April 2017
[A Count Down to 20 June 2017]

Over 15 Key Speakers & Presenters Confirmed

As we count down to our forthcoming Southern Africa Disability Round Table Forum, which is to be held from 20th to 23rd June 2017 at Holiday Inn, Johannesburg, South Africa, we now have confirmed 16 key speakers and presenters.

The speakers include disability activists, independent researchers and those representing mainstream academia, international development partners, Government representatives, and many more sectors. However, the list which is currently on the forum's website excludes representatives of the SAFOD's 10 national affiliates who will also be presenting the disability projects or activities they have been implementing in their respective countries over the past 30 years.

All these speakers will make the forum probably one of the most interactive and resourceful platform ever held in the region to promote disability mainstreaming.

Potential Delegates Can Register Online

Potential delegates are invited to apply online in order to attend this forum. All that they need to do is to fill out an online form and then proceed to make an online contribution of US$300 on the donation page of the SAFOD website. Registration will only be processed/accepted after the administrative contribution has been paid to SAFOD Secretariat through swift transfer to our bank account, or through credit card online payment.

Conference registrants will receive a conference badge, conference program, conference tote, electronic and hard copy presentations and speeches, and online access to the directory of attendees. So the nominal conference fee will contribute towards meetings expenses for printing of conference materials and other conference logistics such as allowances for volunteers & scholarships.

Transport to and from the conference venue, plus accommodation, is the responsibility of each participant.

Side Events: "Killing Many Birds With One Stone"!

During the three-day period of the forum, there will be side events in the evenings targeting some of the participants attending the main forum which will be organized by some of SAFOD’s partners interested to take advantage of the presence of different stakeholders attending the forum to reach out to them with different disability-related agendas. Spaces are are still available on first-come-first-serve basis to all our partners, so those interested to organize a side event are encouraged to send in their expression interest the soonest possible lest they lose the opportunity.

The side events will strictly be on any subject related to disability and inclusive development. Through these side events, there are definitely far-reaching advantages for both SAFOD and our partners. Firstly, it is probably one the smartest and most cost-effective ways to promote partners' respective (but shared) agendas. Secondly, partners are more likely to find the right target audience for their agenda if they are to target stakeholders working in the disability sector within the region, as the main forum will bring together SAFOD Affiliates, Disability Researchers & Academicians, Government representatives the Private Sector, Key Founders of SAFOD, International Development Partners, and various other Strategic Partners. A case of killing many birds with just one stone!

Volunteers are invited to apply

Recent university graduates interested in disability issues, especially those resident in Johannesburg, (or preferably in/near Boksburg), have an opportunity to contribute their time and skills during the forum.

It is also a learning opportunity for them, at the same time a networking opportunity. The forum can be just that perfect platform where they can interact with disability experts from the region while they contribute their time and skills helping SAFOD in making the forum successful.

We have a list of volunteer opportunities from which they can choose, and apply online.

Greetings from ANPPCAN Malawi Malawi Chapter 10,
We note that your organization will be holding Regional Disability Round Table Forum

ANPPCAN has Special need project in schools, in Chikwawa, Blantyre, Mlanje, Thyolo, Karonga and Chtipa.

Unfortunately two only of our par time of our staffs have had training with Catholic University on issues to do with disability, having seen the need and importance of this, we therefore, through your good office seek support for logistics so we can attend this very important secession.

We look forwards to hear from you.
Best regards.
