Dear Cricklade Historical Society,

I am working on a new BBC 2 series presented by Nicholas Crane which
will be broadcast later this year. We are currently researching
Cricklade and its history. I wondered if anyone knew anything about
the claims that Oxford University started here as a Greek school and
later moved to Oxford? We are working from the notes of William Camden
a C17th chorographer who detailed the present and the past landscape
of Britain in his amazing book 'Britannia'. If anybody can help me
further with any information at all I would love to hear from you.

Thanks

Helen

Helen
sorry I cant help you with your query about the Oxford University. However my great great grandparents and greatgrand father lived at Esiey Manor which is a short distance from Cricklade They farmed 480 acres of this area and as my greatgrand father was a photographer I have photos of the family and Esiey Manor etc. If you are interested  send me an email. Even if you dont want this offer I am very keen to see your documentary. However I live in New Zealand (my greatgrand father immigrated here in the late 1800s) how can I go about making sure I get to see it . Looking forward to hearing from you.
