Hi

Hoping that someone may be able to provide me with Information on the
Family of Cecily Ada Maslin, who apparently came from the Eysey Manor
area, which I think is around Cricklade.

She married a Frederick Herbert Wright, the son of a John Wright and
eventually settled in New Zealand. I think she was born around 1860?

Any assistance of directions to go next would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chris Thomson

I have no info about your request. However I recommend that  you  search the cenus of 1861. web site "ancestry.com". my  great great grandparents lived at Eisey Manor Farm. they were the farmers of 480 acres and employed many farm workers .My great father, one of their sons also  immigrated to New Zealand. which is now where i am from. i found out from the cenus much about my family. You can find  all the people that were at Eisey from the cenus on the internet. it starts from, i think 1851. my great grand father was a photograher so i have pictures from that time and place. what country are you from. i am intersted in the stories  o f the ones who are now seeking to find out about their families. email if you with with any questions.

Chris,

The following may help:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIRTH: FreeBMD
Births Jun 1870 (>99%)
Maslin Cicely Ada Cricklade 5a 32
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1871 CENSUS:
High St, Cricklade
,,,George Maslin,Head,M,46,,Tanner & Fellmonger,Ramsbury Wiltshire,,
,,,Letitia E Maslin,Wife,M,,34,,Witney Oxfordshire,,
,,,Thirza A Maslin,Dau,,,11,Scholar,Cricklade Wiltshire,,
,,,Bertha Maslin,Dau,,,8,Scholar,Cricklade Wiltshire,,
,,,Cicely A Maslin,Dau,,,10m,,Cricklade Wiltshire,,
,,,Emma Pearce,Mother,W,,62,Dyer,Dean Oxfordshire,,

As you will note Cecilia was living in Cricklade High Street in 1871.
There is no sign of them in the 1881 Census so assume that they may
already have emigrated by that date?

I would appreictae details of your line of descent from Cecilia for
our records in case anyone else is interested in this family.

Kind regards

David

Hi Robyn

I am from New Zealand. Invercargill. Thankyou for your info. I found
them in 1871 census and then David also provided this info in a post.

I know that Cecily and Thirza Maslin at least, came out to NZ. Still
trying to track down when. She Married Frederick Herbert Wright and
Thirza married a Jack Lindsay who became a Mayor of Green Island,
Dundein. They are related thru my wife's side of the family.

Just very new to this whole thing so ant advise appreciated.

Thanks
Chris Thomson

Chris,

I think that the entire family emigrated as far as I can tell. My
understanding is that from 1873 passage to NZ was free so they may
well have taken advantage of that opportunity.

George was the eldest child and I know that some of his siblings
married in Cricklade and remained in the UK.

Hope this helps a bit.

Kind regards

David

Hi David

Thanks for your help.

What I know so far is that Cecily married Frederick Herbert Wright
whose father was a John Wright.

Have not yet ascertained if the marriage ccurred in England prior to
coming NZ, but I think it may have been in NZ and am looking to find
more details.

One of their children, Ivy Ethel Wright married Gordon Stanley
Paterson, who was one of a family of 13. His father was William Aird
Paterson and mother was Martha Grange Fergus.

Ivy and Ethel had four children, of whom Gordon Fergus Paterson was
the grandfather of my wife. This is a very brief outline. As I fill
in gaps I will send you a more comprehensive list of othe siblings
etc. I have only really just started this journey so all your help
and that of Robyn has been heartening

Cheers

Chris

Hi Robyn

My wifes family from Scotland came from the Paterson line - Glasgow
area and Fergus line from KirkOswald I think.
My own family line is a bit mixed and i have yet to go there, but I
think the Thomson side are from Scotland and I have been told
somewhere back also hanover in Prussia. Any help your friend can add
would be greatly received. My mother was adopted twice.
