I seem to have run into a dead end finding out about my 4 x maternal
great grandfather.

His name is Jacob Gee, born around 1792 and he married Charlotte
Titcomb in 1819. The resided within St Sampson Cricklade. He died of
Dysentercia(Dysentery?) in 1858.

The 1841 census is showing them as living at No 1. Highworth (Could be
chilworth? or similar).

One of his children - Henry is mentioned on the 1891 census as having
resided at the cottages within Blagrove farm. I also have a reference
of the Gees being at Snodshill farm too - although I do not have the
date to hand.

It appears over time that they were agricultural/farm labourers,
cowman and roadman.

I would dearly love to know about Jacob and Charlotte, who their
parents were, how they lived, quality of life etc- but I seem to have
come to dead end.

If anyone is researching the Gee's in Cricklade, or knows of a book
that covers the era then please get in touch.

Thanks in advance,
Tony

Tony,

Jacob Gee was born 1791/2 and was probably the son of Isaac Gee and
Jane Wilkins.

In 1841 he was lving at Chelworth (NB the no.1 is not part of the
address) which is adjacent to Cricklade and in 1851 was living at
Stones Lanes here in Cricklade.

After he died in 1848 his wife remarried. Her parents were Richard &
Ann Titcombe.

Henry was living at Broom in Swindon in 1861 and by 1881 had moved to
Snodshill cottage in Chisledon, the other side of Swindon to
Cricklade.

I can help with a little more about the Titicombes/Gees and would
obviously be interested in your connection to this Cricklade family.

Kind regards

David

That's fantastic David - thank you so much.

My maternal grandfather was Maurice Patrick Henry Gee (although he
always referred to himself as Pat) and he was the son of Earnest John
Gee, Earnest was the son of Sydney Gee who in turn was the son of
Henry Gee. Henry being Jacobs son.

Sydney was actually born in Keynsham, Somerset - so I am guessing they
moved around a bit.

I'm using Ancestry.com and have a tree on there if you have an
interest in this line then let me know and I'll add you (its marked
private at the moment).

How did you manage to find out who Charlottes & Jacobs parents were?

Thanks again,
Tony
