Prior to the dawn of the modern Salesforce Automation or CRM systems, we had a variety of salesperson organizational tools. There were index cards with leads hand written on them. There was the Rolodex with hand written tabbed cards containing names, titles and phone numbers. And, there were paper calendars and day planners. These led to the popularity of Franklin Planners, which provided books of pre-formatted data collection sheets that operated like a crudely manual data entry system. Much of this information settled into spreadsheets on little floppy disks and laptop hard drives. At the tail end of this age, software companies such as Goldmine, ACT and Maximizer sought to automate the collection of customer details in a database with a user experience designed to make access and utilization of the information more quick and easy. The concept of the database led to the SECOND age.

With the sonic boom of AI capabilities that have hit this space, we should increasingly eliminate the act of data entry, data tracking and manual administration. We should no longer need to review reports and dashboards to determine trends. Instead, the system should do more, or as close to all the work as possible. AI should allow business professionals to spend more time plotting customer engagement strategies based on the guidance they receive from their systems and carrying out their human relationship-building activities.

So, here is my big idea. I had hoped to be the first to actually do this, and maybe I still will, but now that I am putting it out there, I challenge you to beat me to it. I want to take the concept of MAX and build it into an Amazon Alexa. Apttus says they are either capable of doing this on a limited basis now or will be there shortly. I am sure there are other players as well. I want to offer the Max-loaded Alexa to the top Sales Reps each month as an incentive prize for them to put on their desks in their offices and start using for all their CRM/CRA updates. Not only will this make their interaction with our platform a more seamless and natural experience, but it will drive adoption and make them more successful. Ultimately, they will become the envy of everyone else in the office who will want to compete for the prize during the next month. This should drive business and generate additional revenue.
