When I start the tablet it goes to the lock screen and I get the message unfortunately, com. android.smspush has stopped. The same unfortunately, launcher has stopped, media the same. I tried holding the power key volume up button to reboot it. That didn't do any good so I started thru all the different modes in the list. Now it just goes to a dead green android with it's chest plate open and a red triangle warning with large letters that say no command. Anything would be helpful. Thank you

If you hold vol+, then press power for the count of 4 and release while still holding vol+, the pups may appear, then several seconds after that you should get the broken android. At that point, release the vol+ and it should still show the android. Press vol+ again and a menu should come up. If you can press the vol- key and navigate to "update rkimage from external storage", I may be able to help.

I learned how to make a file over the last couple weeks that fixed mine. I have 2 of them. I am not an expert, and do not yet know if it will help others, just finished it this AM, but am willing to try if you are. BTW, the rkimage will restore to factory so you will lose what was in there. I am guessing that ship has sailed anyway. Factory new is better than paperweight

Today I updated my Allview Viper L to 4.4.2. Up untill this point the "Unfortunately the launcher has stopped working" message would appear only when I would try to edit the Desktop. After the update it kept on appearing. Rebooted the phone, powered off and on, took out the battery but the error still appeared.

HOWEVER, I noticed that tapping and swiping down on the upper side of the screen allowed me to reach the Settings. From there I went to System Backup and backed up my data(contacts, call log, calendar etc) to my SD card. Afterwards I went to Backup & reset and tapped on Factory data reset, tapped on Format phone storage and then, finally, hit Reset phone. Now it's working perfectly: it's still updated to 4.4.2, I have all my data, music and the rest

P.S. One reason I think this error appeared is because I disabled some apps and the phone warned me that things may go sideways so....moral of the story: don't disable apps that are already on your phone. Disable only the apps you installed and you are perfectly sure won't affect your phone in any way. Hope I've helped.

Yes... Saved!... However, one caveat after hitting 'reset phone'... That would be to be very patient upon reboot process, as it might appear that your screen sticks in start-up mode, but it's actually doing its reload thing and may take several minutes to clear and give you next instructions (screen) to continue with final launcher (main screen access) appearance... Be very patient and brew a cup of coffee, tea, or pour a drink. (hehe)

After installing it go to settings and set the new home launcher. It's functional and does the job... do I love it? It's a good and functional launcher and that's what it counts to me at this point since the stock launcher has gone to !&&* a while upgrading to Lollipop and it's not getting fixed anytime soon. Hope this will help you like it helped me.

Glad to hear was helpful to some, but apparently this would require to have a rooted device. I followed the steps and all I got was the phone to restart which didn't help solve the issue... any additional suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Steroid Launcher is a phone app launcher that replicates the original installed software but with a difference, it is quicker, more powerful, and more versatile. Gone is the misery of having to search through a device's screens to find the relevant app, this single launcher keeps everything in one place, giving instant access to phone functionality.

While Steroid Launcher is similar to a standard launcher, it has various differences that make it unique: the user interface has a feature called Around, a simple left swipe on the screen lets users access a range of services such as flight and train booking, maps, location services, cabs, and more. This service is intelligent, it uses the phone's location to access local services that may be of use or interest. Having these services in one app saves downloading and accessing several different apps to make bookings, simplifying travel and everyday transactions. The app is also compatible with OYO accommodation booking. Elsewhere, apps are kept in a tidy and simple vertical-scroll interface, with a prominent search function to aid quick launching, all music on the device is also accessible in one place.

These instructions provide a basic understanding of the installation, configuration, usage and essential workings of EHS, and are recommended for anyone unfamiliar with first-time EHS setup. Please note that everything detailed here also can be automated through a Mobile Device Management (MDM) system and with direct manipulation of the EHS config file, which is documented in the Advanced Settings section.

Many of the capabilities of EHS can be accomplished manually on the device, programmatically through EMDK or remotely using StageNow or a third-party mobile device management (MDM) system (if supported by that MDM system). EHS simply puts the capabilities into a single tool.

Note: Installation and setup requires that EHS be present on a PC or Mac that can communicate with the target device and write to all storage areas. If necessary, please download EHS and establish connectivity between the computer and device. Then resume from here.

Enterprise Home Screen works with most Zebra Android devices. The EHS download package includes all three files indicated in the table below, plus documentation and release notes. The correct APK file for a particular target device depends on the device, its operating system and some additional considerations explained below.

These instructions apply to direct installation (from a computer to a single device) using the installer APK (EHS_020300.apk), which detects the target device model and operating system and installs the appropriate EHS version. If installing a device-specific APK from the table above, be sure to substitute the filename(s) where necessary in the instructions.

Note: The installer payload includes two EHS editions, and occupies about 170 KB more device storage than a target-specific APK alone. Further, the 'EHS Installer' app remains visible in the device's App Drawer following installation and should not be removed; doing so removes the ability to automatically uninstall all EHS components. Read about how to uninstall EHS later in this guide.

8. Select Enterprise Home Screen and tap 'Just once' for now. This will allow easy switching between EHS and the Android launcher during setup. This choice will be presented every time the HOME key is tapped until selecting 'Always' makes the selection permanent.

EHS is now ready to use. The next steps are for selecting which apps to display (and which to hide) while in User Mode, and for configuring the level of user access to device settings. When first run, EHS always defaults to User Mode, and will display a screen similar to the image below:

EHS provides extensive control over which device settings (such as networking) and resources (such as cameras and the file system) will be available to users when the device is in User Mode. Administrators can allow complete control of all device settings, limit access to just a few settings, or hide device settings completely.

For scenarios that require even more security, EHS offers Secure and Kiosk modes, which are documented in the Advanced Features section. For a complete usage reference for the enterprisehomescreen.xml configuration file, please refer to the Advanced Settings section.

These instructions apply to remote installation of EHS, an enterprisehomescreen.xml config file, or both, from an organization's own MDM server to multiple managed devices. Alternatively, remote deployment and management can be accomplished through Zebra's EMDK or StageNow tools using the App Manager service.

This section covers use of the EHS Installer (EHS_020300.apk), which detects the target device model and operating system and installs the appropriate EHS version and the default config file if none is present. If installing a config file or device-specific APK from the 'Supported Devices and APKs' table above, be sure to add or substitute the filename(s) where necessary in the instructions.
