Hi all,
See the message below from Dr. Collins about the GI bug that has been going around. Please pass this information on to your athletes and impress upon them how important it is that they take the proper measures to prevent further spread of the
bug. That includes isolating themselves in the dining hall and residential areas if they are affected and letting staff know right away if they start to feel sick.
Thanks,
Margaux
From Dr. Collins:
Another (para) athlete is complaining of symptoms similar to others (dizziness, nausea, stomach ache, fatigue). I've asked her to stay in her room for the rest of the day.
I have spoken to the GB doctor. She and I and the Aussie doctor are going to speak with the OC medical staff about the situation. Perhaps they will take some additional measures at the course and IBK.
In the meantime, super good hand hygiene is super important. One measure that the GB team is taking is to wash before eating and again after serving themselves. This is a good idea. The one thing everyone is touching is the serving utensils. Lastly, everyone
should stick to using bathrooms in their rooms rather than using communal/public restrooms.
We should try hard to limit the spread of this pesky bug.
Matt
