Hi guys,

I hope this find you all well, and that you are having a great start to 2014. I wanted to let you know that I was selected for the "Out-of-Competition Doping Control Program" by USADA earlier today. Long story short, I had to pee in a cup/provide a sample this morning. From speaking with the Doping Control Officer (DCO), USADA definitely has some sort of targeted approach to selecting athletes to test, and the fact that I got tested this morning makes me inclined to believe that each of you may--with high probability--be tested in the near future (if you have not already been). I also learned that my testing window was from January to March; in other words, the DCO could pick any random day during that window to come to Baltimore to test me (thus making me think that you all may potentially be subject to testing in the near future).

Anyways, just thought I would give you all a heads up. Who knew that a coxswain could ever get subject for doping control!

Hope you are all doing well,
- Michael

Sean you idiot.

I just updated my whereabouts with days I'm gOing too be gone.  Normally they do crew boats in a similar time frame ago chances are someone will be tested soon.

Michael did they find your positive for the gay hormone.   Pete Gibson said you reportedly had super high levels of it on account of all the seamen you consume ;)

Sean, and everyone else:

Definitely take this USADA stuff seriously. The guy who showed up at my apartment door at 10:30am this morning was not one to be humored with (he drove 2 hours from his home in VA to come find/.test me). A "Filing Failure Violation" counts as one "Whereabouts Failure". If I was not at my apartment this morning and/or didn't pick up the phone, I would have gotten a "Missed Test Violation" which is also considered a "Whereabouts Failure". Three "Whereabouts Failures" in an 18-month period will results in an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (aka. removal from National Team/unable to participate in USRowing-sanctioned Regattas--eg. Trials/Speed Order). So stay on top of this stuff and make sure your Whereabouts Filing is accurate (and update it accordingly if it's not and/or if plans change as time goes on).
