Hello Everyone!

Now that Hope Cooper has kindly shared her distribution list for the
Community Advisory Board (and as many neighborhood officers as are
currently available), I am forwarding the Birmingham City Council
Meeting Highlights for Tuesday, October 5, 2010 as a test. These
highlights are prepared by the Council's Public Information Officer
(PIO), Jacqueline Gray-Miller. We will send these highlights to you
every week following the Council meeting so that you will be aware of
what is going on in the city now that Brighthouse has moved the
televised meetings to a more expensive cable plan. Thank you.

During the Birmingham City Council meeting Tuesday, October 5, 2010,
Council:


1. Approved the appointment of Engineering Design Technologies,
in
an amount not to exceed $255,000.00, to provide engineering,
surveying,
environmental, and geotechnical design services relating to the
Collegeville Pedestrian Bridge Project. For more information, contact
the Office of Councilor Maxine Herring Parker at 254-2464.



2. Denied a resolution requiring the Birmingham Airport Authority
to prepare and approve an annual operating budget and a five-year
capital improvement program budget, file said budgets in the Office of
the City Clerk no later than June 1 of each year, and submit said
budgets for informational purposes only without requiring the approval
of the Mayor or the City Council. For more information, contact the

3. Referred to the Transportation Committee and Law Department
Representative a resolution directing recovered business license fees
as
a result of the Amnesty Program be appropriated to the BJCTA in
accordance with Ordinance Number 07-218. For more information,

5. Received an announcement from the City Clerk regarding a
vacancy
on the Birmingham Water Works Board. Interested applicants should

6. Received an announcement from the City Clerk regarding a

7. Received an announcement from Councilor Scales regarding a
vacancy on the Commercial Development Authority Board. Interested
