Tablets. Lyft has tablets in 6,000 cars in 12 markets, reaching over 1 mllion riders per month. Riders are using them as an alternative to the phone app when they are in the car. Additionally, riders can use the tablet to improve their experience by controlling the music in the car, tracking their progress on a map and tipping their driver.
For emergency assistance, riders can reach 911 directly from the Lyft app. It will prominently display your current location and vehicle information, including the license plate. This makes it easy for you to inform dispatchers if needed.
Emergency Help, supported by ADT, is available for all Lyft riders nationwide. With Emergency Help, if a rider ever feels uncomfortable or unsafe, they are able to immediately connect with an ADT security professional silently or by voice for real-time help 24/7.
Students are encouraged to utilize capacity limitations for Standard Lyft rides (up to 3 riders) and Lyft XL rides (up to 5 riders) to travel in groups. This improves rider safety and helps maximize the number of times students can take advantage of this program.
With so many competitors vying for market share, Lyft knew providing safety and trust at all touchpoints, for both passengers and riders, would be paramount in helping the company achieve success. Establishing and growing that trust, even as the organization went through massive growth, meant a hyperfocus on one major area: communications.
MSP Airport requires all Lyft, uberX, uberXL, and UberSELECT partners to obtain a permit and display a vehicle decal to complete rider pickups. Failure to display your permit will result in a $100 fine.
Many people in need of rides require some assistance in learning how to use Lyft. Trainers are needed to help these riders to use Lyft independently and safely. This experience benefits both the rider who is learning important new safety skills and the trainer providing a helping hand to fill a community need.

Uber has faced criticism for the way it pays its drivers, but it has pledged to make changes to improve these conditions. Lyft has managed to avoid some of the controversies that have plagued Uber, although the company was accused of deducting money from drivers when they drove on interstate highways.

Lyft Concierge
To ensure students will be provided service promptly, Lyft Concierge is now available to supplement SAFE Connection. At peak hours, SAFE Connection operators may dispatch a Lyft vehicle to assist with student transportation requests.
About Lyft Concierge
Riders will receive a series of updates about their ride via SMS. The messages will state your organization's name (SAFE Connection) so the rider will know who requested the ride on their behalf.

Dakota County is recruiting drivers who have their own Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) to drive for the GoDakota Lyft program. Since launching in 2018, Motional has conducted over 130,000 autonomous rides on the Lyft network in Las Vegas and introduced hundreds of thousands of consumers to driverless technology. Over 95% of riders have awarded their ride five-out-of-five stars, and many first-time passengers have become repeat riders.
In August 2021, a California Lyft driver was attacked. The driver picked up the assailant from a bar where he was DJing. When the driver told the rider that there was not enough room for his equipment, the rider grew angry. He attacked the driver with a microphone stand. The attacker was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
In April 2019, an Atlanta Lyft driver was sexually assaulted by her passenger. The man invited her back to his apartment and offered to pay for the ride with sexual favors. When she refused, the rider sexually assaulted her. The driver was able to flee and call the police. The rider was arrested and later given a restraining order after stalking the woman online.
To redeem the $20 credit, Marylanders need to open the Lyft app, choose "payment" from the menu on the top-left corner and scroll to the "Add Lyft Pass" section. Enter the code in, and $20 will be applied to the user's account. Each rider is limited to one $20 credit each weekend through the entirety of the campaign.
In 2022, building on its success, the program received an innovation grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to help expand on-demand service to riders who use mobility devices. The grant provides financial incentives to attract drivers with wheelchair-accessible vehicles to the Lyft platform and, once on the platform, to keep them driving, said county transportation coordinator and TCAP mobility manager Robyn Bernardy.
Currently, Lyft subcontracts with Mobility for All for wheelchair-accessible services, which requires riders to call for rides rather than use the Lyft app. Lyft is working on adding the option for wheelchair-accessible vehicles to its platform.
