Does anyone have an issue with custom services using automation policies going into stale or misconfigured states? I have found multiple devices where this is happening and when you try to run an automation policy under Tools -> Task Execution it just hangs forever until it times out.
You can also use custom properties with Automation Manager policies that pulls in the appropriate customer or device-specific information, rather than creating separate Automation Manager policies per customer, or per device. Automation policies can also set the property for devices. For example, a policy can run based on a property of "Maintenance required". After completion of the task, the automation policy can change the property to "Maintenance completed. Automation policies cannot update customer-level properties.
Regression issues are the most painful issues. We are humans. And we cannot do the same thing with the same energy, speed, and accuracy every day. This is what machines do. This is what automation is required for, in order to repeat the same steps with the same speed, accuracy, and energy as they were repeated the first time.
Also many people overlook that you need (at least) the first 20 minutes if you want automate actions and checks.

Generally, my position acts as a point of communication between our business and tech team. Challenges in the job:
Starting your first job after university can be challenging. Personally, I was feeling overwhelmed with the amount of existing scenarios and the maintenance work that comes with them. It can be demanding to reproduce someone's thoughts behind setting up an automated flow. Furthermore, understanding the complex business processes that stem from the integration with many different stakeholders was a challenge. However, building better documentation around the automations that support these business processes, was a good approach for me to tackle that complexity.
Conclusion:
As a BAM you have great possibilities to develop into different directions and set the focus as you wish. If you are interested in the strategic alignment of the product, the position gives you that flexibility. But moving in a more technical direction, thus including pro-code into automations and workflows, is also a possibility.
For me the position seems like a perfect fit, since in my bachelors I studied International Business Administration and I completed my Masters Degree in Information System Management. Thus, as a first job after university, this job gives me the opportunity to explore a broad field of topics.
