Bigger Problem : I had locked many folders with this software when it was working fine.
But now I can't access those folders anymore, they're still locked but software doesn't show these folders in its "locked folders list".
How do I unlock them?
The software was working fine for few months - I was able to lock and unlock things in my computer during that period. But all of a sudden the software Folder Lock just got reset somehow.

I had the same problem. I was not able to retrieve my locked files but uninstall of folder lock without password is easily done by using for example speed commander (select folder lock from program files via speed commander and delete) Simple as that.(no password required) Can also be done with other file finding software as well.

The only way I know is to change the name of the parent directory in which the locked folder exists for example Pictures is the locked folder then change C:/Anything/Pictures to C:/Anything else/Pictures

Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Since upgrading to version 11 now every time I start DO, the folder lock is on (it was off when I last shut down) and my previous days "find in" path is gone. How can I have the same "find in" path when DO re opens as when I close it down?

If you always want the Find Panel to start with a specific path, you can change the Tools > Find Panel menu item (or whatever you are using to open the panel) to run something like this instead of its default command:

Using that command, the format lock will be off and disabled at first, and the folder will be C:, but you can click the reset button next to it to set the folder to the current path and enable the lock again, should you need to.

Leo,
DP opens with the utility find panel open. Its open when I close DP, the problem when I close it it's un locked and pointing at D:\Data.
I went into the Ctrl F and added ... see attachment, it made no difference it still opens with the lock on and somewhere on the C: drive, even tho it's un locked and pointing at the desired drive. The previous version of this program did not do this. see attachment for example of what I did with the above mentioned code.

If you want to have the Find Panel always open and always ready to find in a hardcoded folder, there is a way I can think of to do that, but before I go into that, can I ask why you want the find panel open all the time like that? Maybe there is a better way, depending on what you're aiming for.

e.g. If you want a quick way to do a search for files by name in a specific folder, you can create a button/hotkey to do that without needing to have the Find Panel open all the time. That would save you the screen space the panel takes up.

I use the find panel to search the upper lister, the lower lister is always my 'scan to' directory. After scanning I can rename while open in the view window while looking inside the file, I then search my destination location in the top lister, then rt clicking and selecting 'open containing folder' .... works just great. Just drag from the 'scan to' lister to the top lister. It's annoying to always have to re direct the find panel to d:\data, every time I start DO. The previous version stayed the same when opening, it didn't have this 'feature' of the current version. How can I have the Find in always start in D:\data?

Is it not doing that? Or is that part OK, but the problem is something else, e.g. that it does not stay pointing at D:\data when you activate the other side of the lister or navigate to another folder?

As I said I run 2 listers with horizontal split. I need the bottom lister to be on D:\myscans, the top lister is where I do the searching. When I close DO the bottom lister is pointed at D:\myscans, AND the folder lock is UN LOCKED, and the "find in" path is D:\data. When I re open DO the folder lock is locked and the "find in" directory is looking at the C: drive, or some other path, but not D:\data. The version of DO before this one DID NOT do this. I just want the bottom lister to be D:\myscans, and the folder lock to be un-locked, with D:\data in the "find in" path. This folder locking "feature" in this version is not working for me.

Leo,
Now with the new script DO opens with the find box closed, and when I open it, it contains the correct path, but I have to resize the find box to only show the 'name matching' dialogue box greatly increasing the size of the to listers. Is it possible for the script to unlock the folder lock and insert the path D:\data, without actually closing the find box? I am including a screen shot of the 'find box' size.
Thank you for your help .... Gary

If you use Settings > Set As Default Lister (or re-save the layout, if you are opening a layout instead of the default lister), with the Find panel open, it should remember the panel's size. (The find panel must be open when you save it, or any size changes will be ignored. But you can then close it and save the default a second time if desired.)

I saved my setup as the default lister, it opens just like I closed it, then the script runs and closes the find dialogue, but sets the path to D:\data, I then have to open and resize the find dialogue box. So then I disabled the script, now it opens just fine find dialogue the proper size, but the act of closing and reopening DO causes it to 'forget' the D\Data path and re lock the folder lock (why is the folder lock being applied during the closing and re-opening sequence as it is off when I close DO?). As I previously stated the older version of DO did not have this 'feature'. Is there a script when opening DO that would just set the 'folder lock' off, and insert the D:\data as the path. Exactly the way it was with I saved as the default lister, and closed DO.
Thanks for your help ....
Gary

The script does that, but #1 when I have to MANUALLY re-open the find dialogue box, as the script closes it, and it is full size, I then have to resize to the last example I sent you. I DO NOT require the 'folder lock' to be locked, would prefer it not be. The problem when I open DO the folder lock is on by default, can this be changed? The last version DID NOT DO THIS.

I would like to ask how the lock tabs feature can be used. I just updated to the latest version, 12.22 Light edition and I followed these instructions which were found in the manual:
"Folder tabs can be locked in a number of different ways. Primarily, when a tab is locked, it always displays the same folder. To lock a tab, right-click on it and choose a command from the context menu's Lock Tab menu."

(Something we have on our list to make built-in in the future. The current built-in purpose of locked tabs is more about keeping them from changing folders, as described in the manual screenshot in the post above mine.)

Sorry I haven't replied back to any of your comments guys. This is the
first time I've logged into this site in a long time. This instructable was something I made when I was in 8th grade. Yes I know my grammar is terrible and my spelling is even worse. This was just something I done for fun. It was never meant to be "secure or encrypted." Also this was only meant to work in Windows XP. I see that some of you have found ways to make it work in other OS and I think that's great. Most of your problems are probably related to using windows vista or windows 7. If you forgot your password just make another locker.bat and delete the old one. Just because you delete the locker.bat or locker.exe for those who converted it, doesn't mean you delete the folder where your files are stored. I will try to come back more often and respond to your comments and questions.

Ok thankyou I cannot figure out why it works without a lock on one computer but not on the other. Looking at permissions in Windows both computers look fine. Tried setting user permissions elevated as well. Just hoping someone has some insight on this

Every time while I get to pull from git it will lock my src folder with read-only permission in my project and I cant able to modify that code and every time I need to provide read-write access from finder.

If your laptop is stolen, the thief can boot up your computer from a removable device and access your files. Or, they can remove the hard disk, install it on another computer, and gain access to all of your files and personal data.

Keep your data safe with Avast BreachGuard. If your passwords or other personal data are ever leaked online, BreachGuard will warn you ASAP. That way, you can regain control of your accounts before anyone has the chance to log in with your credentials.

Folder Lock comes with a powerful file shredder and a cloud-based backup solution as well. The demo is free, while the full-version is $39.95. Knowing how to lock a folder in Windows costs a bit of money, but the functionality and customization makes it worth it. Now you know how to password protect a folder.
