No, it uses the rear cat port and is VERY heavy on traffic. Its reading the rigs EEPROM directly which is why it shows heaps more than any basic Cat software out there. I wanted to see directly what my rigs settings were without wading through those damn Yaesu menus. You cant do this with basic Cat commands. And to really see whats happening, its needs to keep scanning the EEPROM. you see the rig doesn't autopmatically send a change out the cat port. This is why its heavy on Cat traffic - always scanning scanning the EEPROM. You know, if you want PC control, then use a PC program. But,. if I'm in the field or have a dedicated listening rig or perhaps a bigger display in the car, then a CatDisplay is what I'll be using. Very impressive project you have there! A few questions if I may: When you're reading the EEPROM, is the radio in clone mode or are you able to query the EEPROM whenever you wish? Is there any documentation that you followed to determine what bits represent what information? Is your project open source or closed?
