Ok, so I like Fallout 4, but it's not my favorite. FNV is. What really makes FNV a 10/10 for me is the fact that you can play with mods AND still get achievements which is great (54/75 so far)! Obviously, I don't "cheat" my way to getting the achievements on Steam, I'll just use graphics mods and gameplay mods. Fallout 4 great, but vanilla Fallout 4... not so much. I don't understand why Bethesda f***s with you if you use mods. Same thing for Skyrim SE. It's not my fault that Bethesda designs their games poorly, and I have to get mods to make them even remotely fun... so why punish me for that??? Now I've deiced to do an achievement run through for Fallout 4 on Steam and have a vanilla 12hr character... and goddamn I'm getting bored. Now I don't want to compromise my save by enabling mods. Now I know there are mods that "enable achievements with mods" but it never seems to work. I still get the "mods are enabled. Note: Achievements are disabled" when I have the so called "enabling" mods installed. Does anyone know what files I have to have specifically, to allow achievements with my mods? Otherwise, I'm just not going to play Fallout 4 ever. The game doesn't hold itself up on its own, and I don't want to waste my time. Please help, I really want to enjoy Fallout 4 and see what it has to offer...
According to the report beta testers are apparently not happy with this and Bethesda has not yet commented on this restriction. When an author makes a mod the general consensus for him is that he does not want players to disable his/her mod. There were a lot of mods in the past that fixed broken quests, now if a user installs a mod to fix a quest then he/she can`t get any achievements.
I understand why they would want to - it makes sense actually. Obviously there could be mods that make it much easier to get achievements so if they are trying to keep them legit, it makes sense they would lock them down when using mods.
Not that I like the idea, but it does make sense. In fact, there is another game that works like this already: Cities Skylines. If you enable mods, you won't get achievements for cities you play with them on. Of course, there is a mod to reenable achievements ( the irony!) but this isn't a new concept.
Like, why would you want to enable this? You're just gonna make it so the 1.5% of people in this world who still care about achievements either don't install mods or will not bother with the achievements anymore.
Yes mods aren't necessarily cheats, but with mods you cant differentiate between what mod is cheating, like one hit kill weapons, or flying mods or not, so grouping them all up and blocking them is the only way to deal with the issue.
Which, to be frank, is quite stupid. I can understand disabling them with ingame cheats, like actual cheats from a bonus menu, but not with mods. Its honestly a bit useless in the end since there are steam achievement unlockers out and about.
If achievements mean nothing, which......they don't mean anything, then why bother doing this at all? I'm beginning to suspect they're going to do something shitty with the GECK. Like limiting it to death so that any and every mod made with it can work on console or something.
I doubt it, I think bethesda would want to keep their fans, and if anything, they would just limit console mods, I believe in an interview with a microsoft or bethesda representitve (I forget) I think they said there would be all mods available on console, except they would all have to go through a greenlight type phase, taking out porn mods and stuff like that, I think it'll be kinda how the apple store apps work
Starfield on PC actually blocks the unlocking of achievements if your save has mods enabled. Yes, even the one that changes your flashlight to Todd Howard's face. This isn't an entirely new thing for Bethesda Game Studios; the developer also blocked achievements when it added mod support for Skyrim and Fallout 4 on console.
"shad0wshady3's mod obviously enables achievements when using console commands," RennieBoy explains, "also disables the annoying pop-up box when using the console and if you remove the mod or it ends up breaking due to future updates to the game your saves will stay as unmodded saves, meaning they won't revert back to being modded and blocking achievements on saves that you may have put blood sweat and tears into!"
If you're keen to use mods and unlock achievements simultaneously, then, the Baka Achievement Enabler mod is probably your best bet. And while Bethesda's achievement block seems a little heavy-handed, I can understand why the developer would want to place such a restriction. This mainly stems from the fact that there are plenty of mods out there that essentially act as cheats, giving players access to a variety of late-game items early on or custom equipment with absurdly high stats, for example. But for the many players who simply want to improve the game's visuals and performance via mods, the block can seem somewhat excessive.
Ah either way the only way to run mods is with -dev? so the moment you turned that back off LIVE would have no idea you was trying to cheat for those achievements anyways since the save would already have all the items.
Starfield technically only just came out today, but the game already has hundreds of mods thanks to its early access release. Some of them just introduce some nice quality of life features that don't change too much from the core gameplay (and others are not exactly SFW). The downside to use mods, though, is that once a save is marked as modded, you can't get Steam achievements anymore. But ironically enough, someone has already made a mod that gets around that.
The mod in question was made by brunph, and is quite simply called the Achievement Enabler mod. Not only does it work for mods, it also works if you use console commands, which also marks your save file as being modded. The mod really doesn't do anything but allow you to rack up achievements even if you have mods on, but considering the fact that Starfield is missing a lot of accessibility features, this mod will likely be welcome to those who use mods that add said features in.
And there you have it, you can now enjoy getting achievements while using mods and the debugging console in Starfield! By the way, if you need more help with this game, here we have an article on how to install mods in Starfield, make sure to check it out!
Fallout 4 was one of the most long-awaited titles released by Bethesda, leading up to the success of the critically acclaimed Fallout 3. While Fallout 4 looked slightly dated due to the mediocre graphical fidelity, and dated mechanics, a lot of that can be fixed by using mods if you agree to disable your achievements.
So, the big question you all have been waiting for. Do Mods Disable Achievements in Fallout 4? To state it simply, Yes. Even if your selection of mods does not impact or change the gameplay in any shape or form and simply revamps skins, graphics or shaders, achievements will still be disabled.
The method is pretty much the same for PC players too but there IS a workaround where you can have your cake and eat it too. By this, we mean that PC players can enable mods and keep unlocking achievements by, you guessed it, using another mod.
Traditionally, Bethesda has disabled achievements when mods are enabled in their games. Therefore, it is highly probable that installing and using mods in Starfield will disable the achievements. However, there is a solution. The modding community often releases achievement mods for Bethesda games, allowing you to enjoy Starfield with mods while still earning achievements.
Selecting an achievement in the Colony Summary screen shows detailed progress towards that achievement. You will also see there which achievements you cannot reach any more with this colony (e.g. the "Carnivore" achievement will be disabled after the 100th cycle, if not reached by then).
The Auto Complete All Achievements mod is another mod that will automatically complete all the achievements whenever you begin a new game. After all the achievements have been automatically completed, you can go back to your old saved game and uninstall the mod. No need to be deprived of your achievements if you have mods. Just download this mod and get all the achievements automatically.
