Hola everyone,
Here is a brief recap of the December Meetup with Aarron Walter. It was a great session with lots of good info spread about.
Aarron spoke about Inspiration in terms of teaching you how to "steal" from other designers. That is, to look at the great designers throughout history and learn from their work. He encouraged us to look to Massimo Vignelli, Paula Scher, and for inspiration in the Swiss style of design. He also recommended finding a 'playground' where you could design without constraints, go freeform and discover new things.
Aarron has some other cool resources on his Website:
http://buildingfindablewebsites.com/bonus-chapters.phphttp://aarronwalter.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/findability-strategy-cheatsheet.pdfI spoke briefly about finding inspiration outside the traditional sources, to look at everyday things like the way control on the interior of your car are positioned, infographics on small appliances, the small things that we often overlook. Also, to go outside a look at nature to find patterns, colors, and study the visual interplay between things we see everyday, but seldom actually "look" at.
