I just received this message from the City of Sacramento Animal Care:

*****

I am a volunteer with the City of Sacramento Animal Care, a municipal
shelter, though we do have an associated non-profit. The city and
county have recently started a Pet Food Closet, offering free dog and
cat food to anyone in need. The goal is to help keep pets and their
people together in these tougher-than-usual economic times.

As a municipal shelter, we have not been particularly good at
marketing and outreach. I think this is common to municipal
"anythings" but with the lives of so many wonderful pets at stake this
inability to reach out to the right people has dire consequences. We
are in need of much creativity, but let me focus on the existing
project:

We are planning a Creature Double-Feature, a summer-time move event in
a lovely little theatre in Sacramento. We intend to show two pet-
featured films and the the goal of the event is to be both a fund-
raiser and an awareness-raiser for the Pet Food Closet. My greatest
goal is to reach beyond our normal audience of volunteers and shelter
staff to those Sacramentans who care about animals and have the means
to donate food or funds to the Food Closet. That means we need help
both in marketing (to figure out how to reach these folks) and graphic
design to develop whatever materials result.

So that's what I'm looking for. The event will either be mid-July or
early August.
