Hello everyone,
Following up from the earlier thread on what CC-singapore can do as part of this year's 10th cc birthday, here's an update from cc-affiliates (see forwarded mail), which I think is quite pragmatic and cool.

There's a plan for 10 days of CC from 6-16 December, during which CC events will run globally. They would like every CC affiliate to run an event over this period: "The event can be of any sort - from a small meetup at your local pub to a large conference, from a virtual webinar in your local language to a Salon at a non-CC event. Whatever suits your team's skills and capacity, and your local community and culture."

A Meetup is definitely possible. Just agree on a venue.

Last thread, my suggestion was an accompanying call for participation (e.g. Release 10 cc items per person). Personally i'd like to pursue that. Then use the Meetup to "showcase" the contributions. Symbolically perhaps to get 1000 cc items? Ok ok scratch that its so gahmen! hahaha.

Comments please!

Thanks
Ivan

Dear all

Time for another update on CC's 10th birthday plans. Drawing on the feedback after our last email, we've put together some more structured ideas. But they all require affiliate participation, so we need your input.

Please read to the end of this email, where there's an quick poll for you to fill in.

10 Days of CC
As you know, we are focusing our 10th anniversary celebrations in December, the month that the CC licence suite was officially launched in 2002.

This has now been refined into a plan for 10 days of CC from 6-16 December, during which CC events will run globally. Anyone will be able to participate but, most importantly, we'd like every CC affiliate to run an event over this period. The event can be of any sort - from a small meetup at your local pub to a large conference, from a virtual webinar in your local language to a Salon at a non-CC event. Whatever suits your team's skills and capacity, and your local community and culture.

Time to get planning! Let us know about your event by:
Don't forget to also add it to the CC Events page, so it ends up in our regular mailout: http://wiki.creativecommons.org/EventsCloser to the date we'll start publicising all the events through our blog, twitter, facebook etc.

Online engagement activities
We're also hoping to run a series of online engagement activities leading up to the 10 days in December. But in order to be successful, these activities need affiliate participation.

So we need to know what activities you would like to participate in.  We have picked the most workable suggestions from the 10th Birthday Brainstorming page (http://wiki.creativecommons.org/CC_10th_Birthday/10th_Birthday_Brainstorming) and ask you to take 1 minute to vote on which you'd like to do. You may pick more than one activity - but only choose those you genuinely would like to participate in.

Only those activities that get enough affiliate support will go forward. If we none of the activities get enough support, we will reassess whether we are able to run any of them.

Creative Commons 10th Birthday Activities - affiliate votes

Which of the following activities do you think CC should run for its 10th birthday celebrations? NB - All activities require affiliate participation - only those activities that get enough votes will go forward.
