can anyone give me the Regedit command to save the registry settings before
altering it and the one to restore it to the original settings if the new
one doesn't work well.

eh?.. you can export he whole regitry to a file.. (mines takes up almost
20MB!).. but that's not what i recomend you,
instead you can select the key you ar going to work with and next
regitry->export and anter any filename...
if thinngs go wrong, simply double click on the file and voila, things are
restored..
or you can get the free pcmagazine utility regedit plus. Find it a
www.zdnet.com and type the name regedit uin the search field
it is a addendum to regedit and performs automatic bckups, etc...
hope it help, although it is reeealy off topic!
