Just upgraded my comp...new motherboard, cpu's, etc, but elected to
reinstall my SB soundcard.

I now have a Gigabyte S-series motherboard, with integrated soundcard.

Which one should I use?

Thx

Try both separately? See which one sounds better, better on CPU, etc.? I
think Audigy comes with hardware based EAX for games. Onboard uses
software emulation which uses CPU.

Any media player you use will take CPU time. If you use a light-footprint
player like BS Player or VLC, you can probably use the onboard sound. If
you use Window Media Player or Nero, you'll get a lot of st, st, stuttering
when the CPU is at 100%, which happens frequently with these two
applications. Use the sound card, I have an old Sound Blaster and it
completely takes care of the stuttering, even if the video lags.
