Just wanted to get a few words down for posterity.

Bought the new card to replace a 4-5 year old Audigy 2ZS. Uninstalled the
audigy drivers and powered off. Removed card and powered back up. Searched
in user profile for any creative folders and removed. Searched registry for
any creative entries in software branches and removed. Powered off and
installed new X-Fi card in my Asrock 939Dual-Sata2. Card was detected but
could not install latest drivers from Creative website - something about
newer drivers already exist on the system? Hosed my system and reinstalled
XP. Drivers installed ok.

The card works well - great sound quality and it may be just me, but I'm
sure my games are running better too.
