The application is "Yankee Clipper III" (which was freeware) and the
sound is clip.wav held in its program directory. It is a little "chirp"
that confirms that a new item has been copied to the clipboard.
When my system is freshly loaded, the chirp is loud, and lasts maybe one
third of a second. As time goes by, the chirp gets either quieter or
shorter (it's hard to tell which) until it becomes complete inaudible.
If I play that "clip.wav" file through any other application, it works
just fine. Windows Media Player is playing my music just fine.
Yankee Clipper was just fine with the Audigy 2 ZS, and my onboard
SoundMax before that.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? (short of rebooting every few hours)
Yankee Clipper isn't the only application that suffers from these
diminishing sounds, but its usually the one that I notice first. I'm a
poor typist, and I rely strongly on the audible notification to confirm
that I have succeeded it putting stuff on the clipboard.
