Audigy 2 crackly

hi all

got a problem that's been getting progressively worse and worse over the
last few months and that's with my sound card just crackling and popping
non-stop. I plugged a headphone directly into the sound card and it was
also doing the same through that so it's obviously not physically a problem
with the speakers.

Has anyone else had this at all?

I know I'm responding to a pre-historic post, but I just had this
problem and it turned out to the card not seated correctly in the PCI
socket.
