I have a DVD encore 5x dxr3, but I cannot play divX files on it.
I got a patch the other day for playing movies in divx format, and it
updated the system so I can see divX titles on any other player
installed on the system.
However...the problem is that none of the other players activates the
mpeg card, so I can only see the title on the monitor, and not on the
TV.
Therefore I would like to know if anyone know which dvd player activates
the mpeg card or have an idea about how to update the player from
Creative so it understands the divx format.

Can't be done

Thanks for the reply, but I cannot see why it can't be done. The mpeg card and
DVD software is using the same algoritm's, so it should be possible.
I can also advise that today I updated the driver with the new version from the
Creatives homepage, and this resulted in the the player, actually knew the divX
format (at least didn't come up with any message about invalid or corrupted
filetype). It activated the mpeg card, but then after showing a black screen on
the TV for about 3 seconds and no sound at all, it makes a high click sound in
the speaker on the TV, and then the computer restart/boot without any warning.

Any ideas about how to solve this problem ???

I'm running this application under win 98.

Thanks in advance.

the only way to do this is to first convert the divx file to mpeg format,
you can find tools to do this at
http://www.vcdhelper.com/

The program I use is called tmpgenc, it is pretty good though it takes about
a minute to convert a one minute divx file so converting a whole movie will
take a while (and you will also have to have space for the mpeg file on your
hard disk!)
