Hey everyone! Welcome to my newsletter.
I just got back from a weekend in Whistler with some amazing women. I had a chance to teach an intimate
Creative Flow practice that we threw together with our journals, my ipod, and an exploratory yoga practice. This time, I joined in on the writing, and surprised myself at the
weird crap that came out of my head. It was a really interesting experience, and actually quite illuminating. I got a lovely message from the beyond that I'll keep a secret for now (mostly because it's really cheesy).
The weekend was great for me because I had a week full of
bucking rage ponies. I got mad about a lot of things, many of which you can read about below. Most incensing was the recent news about how the
Bank of Canada got some complaints about having an Asian-looking woman on the $100 bill, so they gave her
"neutral ethnicity," which means made her look white. This got me neighing on about some things I learned in my Master's thesis on
Black history in Canada, and the many skeletons in Canada's creepy old closet. I wrote this piece for
elephant journal about that:

And speaking of
Poetic Justice (which we sort of were) on
Sunday September 30th I'll be leading a
Creative Flow practice for the Hogan's Alley Poetry Festival which is all about looking at cultural history in Vancouver. I'll be reading my own poetry and that of the man who inspired my Master's thesis in the first place:
George Elliott Clarke. You should come because it's only $10 with a
festival pass (which is $20) or $20 cash at the door which is totally affordable, AND because
it's my birthday that day and I want to see you. http://eastsideyoga.ca/node/442
I'll also be teaching my first
Creative Flow Progressive this coming
November: every Sunday, a new way to explore writing and yoga, for any skill level and ability, in both writing and yoga. Learn more about that here:

And a few more juicy thought niblets for this month:
A meditation on
the perils of having a body and bringing it to yoga class, for Spirituality and Health Magazine:

and how
making friends with your guilt can actually make life a little fuller and more delicious:

This one is for my
bike lovers out there, especially the
Lord of the Rings fans among you. It's written by my brother, Zack Peters, who is a bike tour-ist who recently rode across Iceland and found it to be very similar to travelling into Mordor. It's hilarious:

That's it for now! Feel free to write me back with thoughts, comments, questions, or anything else.
Love, peace, rage ponies, and unicorns,
JC
