It's Spring 2012, and this weekend marks a full Supermoon, which means I feel plain crazy. It's a time of serious change, and the full moon is traditionally a time to let go of what is no longer needed to make space for the new. Scary. But I believe in you.
Here are some yummy articles and video poems to sink your teeth into. I'm also doing a Teaching as Storytelling workshop in August, and a Creative Flow workshop in July. See below for details.
I had the distinct pleasure of guest blogging for YJ's excellent online magazine. This piece, Protecting an Open Heart, is about how to protect a vulnerable heart when yoga starts to crack you open. Yup, it's a real problem:
This is a video of me doing a poem as WOWPS rep for the Vancouver Poetry Slam a couple of years ago: For When You Are So Deep In Love You Don't Know How To Get Out. Revising it for this year's Van Slam finals kinda broke my heart all over again.
And I just posted this one on my complicated relationship with Kali, goddess of divine annihilation, performed at Van Slam Semi-Finals: Meditation on World-Destroying (You Know You Want To):
Speaking of which, I am now Vancouver Poetry Slam Team's alternate! Which means I'll be travelling to the US and Canada learning about poetry, meeting people, and performing where I'm needed. Look for me in Charlotte, and Saskatoon in the coming months! My amazing teammates are Erich Haygun, Erin Kirsh, Zaccheus Jackson, and Jillian Christmas.
Yoga
Creative Flow:
Yup, of course, I'm planning another Creative Flow workshop at Highgate on Saturday, July 14th.
We will move through a Flow practice and a Yin practice to change our brainwaves and open creative centres in the body. We will experiment with freewriting and more directed writing excercises to learn how yoga can spark your personal creativity. Sharing welcome but never required!
Teaching as Storytelling 25 Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training this upcoming August!
“Just wanted to say thanks so much for your amazing training this week!
The feedback from every class I’ve taught since has been “wow, I really liked your sequencing”!”
~SS
I'm really excited to teach how to craft your sequences and classes based on the classic concept of storytelling. You'll also learn about Asana Math: how to sequence logically, but also creatively, and skills of languaging that turn you into a very effective teacher and storyteller, all a the same time. Plus you can do it in modules, and with a payment plan. You have no excuse.
August 19th-22nd
Sunday 2-6pm
Monday to Wednesday 8am-5pm (with a 2 hour break)
$515+HST for the full training

That is a lot of information, isn't it! I hope you get some juice out of these tomatoes.
