<DP in PT Sept 27.pdf>
Hello Dears ~
Finally...here are notes from our last meeting!
Present were myself, Judy, Alana, and Glo. We met at Alana's lovely studio downtown (really fun to be there, Alana! It's wonderful!)
Our agenda was 1. an exploration around expanding the group, including "who" and "when" and
2. a round of sharing
First, Judy has already given a great synopsis of the group strategy/organization discussion we shared so please read or re-read below for an update on that:
" There is a lot up for review in September with respect to this group. We decided last Saturday to meet one more time in early September, hopefully Sept 8, and hopefully with more attendees of our original group, to assess what direction we want to head.. We did discuss in this past Saturday's group that we all wanted the group to expand, but to also remain small enough to allow for intimacy and depth of sharing.. so what we thought we might consider was that a date and time could be put out there and the first 10 people (from a larger list) who indicated they would come, would attend, and the next "wave" of people could convene, likely at a different time, and that from month to month, we might actually be meeting with a different mix of people present.... since there are others, like yourself, who would like to be included in this process. This idea was not "agreed upon" as much as just thrown out for our mutual consideration... and it does have assets and liabilities attached, but is a long way of answering that there is entirely a good possibility that we could come up with a different time to convene, besides that 10-noon Saturday slot..."
(We did not cover the "who" in our conversation.)
We did agree that our next meeting we'd discuss our view points on whether this group adopt a goal/project driven
mission or a support/networking mission (or some other defining language).
There was a suggestion that the next meeting be hosted at Leif's new centrally located home - Leif? ;o)
Above all, it's agreed this next meeting is an important one to have as many of us at as possible so we can move forward with expansion and clarifications! (see below suggestion)
Second, a bit about our shares...
Glo shared her exciting news that she's applied for a position as "Student Life Coordinator" for the new BA program beginning this fall at Goddard College! It feels like a great fit for her and we are sending our wishes her way that it's obvious to all involved what a gem they would have on their hands with her working there.
The program itself was interesting to hear about : It's a low residency (8 days/2xyear); self-directed (think Evergreen) program with focuses in Sustainability and Health/Arts/Science and of course, individual studies.
Glo is also active in 2 Artist Trust events which I've attached her info about below. So good to know this supportive organization exists! Thanks Glo :o)
Judy - Is feeling well, peaceful...Projects and planning are gearing up - she's particularly excited about offering her men's group Artist's way program. As you now know - we encouraged her to send out her current offerings to our list-serve...'cause they're too juicy not to share with us!
She is also working with discerning how much to continue prioritizing health in the midst of a possibly busy autumn.
Alana- shared with us her decision to "not be veered off my path anymore"! It's been a life-changing time...choosing to not let fear and anxiety steer her. (ie: she is no longer feeling like a beetle on it's back, it's legs reaching around...so cute, but not effective ;o))
She is exploring incorporating her love of portraiture with her therapeutic work - ie; Transformative Photography!
Aimee - Still gearing up to offer Heart Circles as a soulful bridge between the heady and often intense work of activism and advocacy and the deep heart and caring that motivates us to get involved in the first place. Lots of great supportive ideas to get this idea off the ground...I'm aiming to announce this first go for Sept 23rd...look for more soon!
We also enjoyed a rich conversation about personal commitment to a creative process and struggles with focus to help move oneself forward. Judy shared about a gentleman who moved from one project to the next all the time because his commitment was to "Maintain his enthusiasm by hanging out on the edge of his most vital creativity". Alana offered the idea of choosing a 1 or 5 year goal that is not a physical outcome as much as a Quality ie: "serenity" or an Overarching Principle ie: "I want to call myself an artist".
Loved this meeting! Thanks everyone, I look forward to the continued camaraderie!
Lastly, I would like to throw into the mix, having heard back from a few of our key players that they are not available on the 8th of Sept, that we attempt the set up of a Doodle Calender and find a date where virtually all of us can make is asap. This is far from my strong suit - anyone willing to set up the calender?
Love and Creative Fire to you all,
AiméePostlude!!!!
