not so much the specific attachment itself which is important, since
ultimately consciousness is everywhere, it's the fear of losing the
attachment which is the actual issue. Everyone carries within them a subtle
terror of the unknown; this is why only one in a million people have the
nerve to go all the way through to samadhi.
You have to learn to face this fear. You face it day to day, in your daily
practice, in your daily meditation, with the absolute certainty that you
will face it at the last moment of the last breath of the last day of this
life. You have the choice to put it off till then, or you can do it now.
The fact is, it's just like homework; the more you do now, the less you have
to do later, and when the moment of death does comes, it will be smoother."
