It has always been my intention that Create Brighton would have a
temporary home on Google Groups and I'm happy to say that I've
installed Vanilla's Forum software onto http://forum.createbrighton.com
which will become its permanent home.
My reasons for doing this are fairly simple:
- I think that a creative forum should allow the posting of images
within threads. Not possible with Google.
- If Create Brighton is to become something bigger than a forum - ie.
a place to showcase local creative work among many other things - it
makes sense to me that it should sit alongside whatever happens on
CreateBrighton.com
- I believe that most forum software is easier to understand than
Google Groups email list based system
- Categorisation should allow us to better organise conversations for
future reference - eg. when seeking advice on a previously discussed
topic
- Vanilla allows messaging between users, User profile pictures and
other features that should make the place a bit friendlier
Unfortunately, this means we'll need to start again over at
http://forum.createbrighton.com but it'll soon feel like home.
So, please head on over to http://forum.createbrighton.com, create an
account and let's get started building something special.
Cheers,
Adam
The new form doesn't seem to have any options available for links,
images, formatting and so on. Am I missing something or will these
features be added later? How long before this group closes?
Thanks,
Barry

While it absolutely isn't obvious that you can already do it html/css
will work in posts over at forum.createbrighton.com which therefore
allows users to format, add links/images etc. I'm going to edit the
template at some point to actually tell users that this functionality
is lying hidden, just below the surface :)
Adam
ps. I'll keep this group going for a little while as there are a few
members here and I'd like to encourage them into their new home
