Thank you all for your responses to my original e-mail and for your
interest in having a follow-up to our Create Baltimore conversation on
issues of race and inclusiveness. It seems we have a consensus date,
time and location, so I hope that everyone who is interested will be
able to attend.
WHAT: A Conversation about Race, Diversity, and Inclusiveness in
Baltimore's Arts & Culture Scene
WHEN: Monday, February 21, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: 2 East Read Street, 8th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202
WHO: All who participated in last month's Create Baltimore event and
all who are interested in learning about the racial and other divides
that exist in Baltimore's artistic and cultural landscape
RSVP: If you plan to attend, please e-mail kmo...@gmail.org
WHAT TO EXPECT: This is an opportunity to:
- talk about the history and current state of racial and other
divisions in Baltimore's arts/culture spheres;
- learn about current and planned events, projects, and initiatives
designed to promote inclusiveness;
- share stories, information and ideas;
- propose ways we might work together to bridge these divides.
While there will be a loose program (forthcoming) and the discussion
will be moderated, this is meant to be a friendly and informal
conversation. It is not affiliated with any organization or
institution, it is not intended to advance any particular agenda or
project, and we should not expect to come away with definitive
solutions -- although if any arise, so much the better! This will
simply be opportunity to listen to and learn from each other.
For more information or to participate in the planning of this event,
please e-mail kmo...@gmail.com.

Audacious thinking for lasting change.
I'd considered that, and I'd love to have this event be the
jumping-off point for a much larger (and dare I say, more inclusive)
conversation or even series of conversations. At this point, I think
it would be best if we grow the discussion in stages, ideally gaining
clarity as we go about the sort of direction we want to proceed.
I feel this need particularly keenly as I am by no means an expert in
any of this, and my hope is that smarter and more experienced folks
will take this on. Your guidance is most appreciated.
Thanks,
KGM
