I purchased a QGeem USB-C 9 port docking station. The USB devices i plugged into it work fine with the laptop i purchased. However, the display will not recognize the monitors i have connected via HDMI. When I connect the docking station to my phone i the phone screen is displayed on the screens. The laptop is a touchscreen, is that why it wont transmit the display? Is there a driver update i can download to get it to work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Dell Inspiron 7520 and a Dell D3000 docking station connected through the USB 3.0 port. Before updating to Windows 10 (I was using Windows 7), everything worked fine. Two monitors were connected to the docking station (one through the HDMI and one through the DVI port) and my laptop used all three displays just fine.
After updating to Windows 10, no monitors that are connected through the docking station are detected. The monitors are detected if I plug them directly into the laptop's HDMI or VGA ports. However, other USB devices (e.g. keyboard, mouse) still function properly through the docking station. Only the display monitors seem not to be detected.
We found that if you opened the laptop lid and then restarted the computer, the external monitors would identify and work. You could then close the laptop screen and continue working but whenever the laptop is turned off or undocked it would need to have the screen open in order to identify the monitors.
This is by no means a long term solution but it seems like this is a problem with Win 10 and will hopefully be fixed in the near future. I haven't tested it yet but I also so that Nvidia pulled their driver from last week due to some display issues so maybe that was the problem.
This may be useful to some. My computer is a Lenovo W530 and with the same issue, after I reinstalled Windows 10, the monitors connected to the DVI ports on the dock, did not work. This computer has a second video card Nvidia Quadro and I went to Windows system directory and found an application which is the control panel for the Nvidia. There all I had to do was to enable the monitors on DVI ports and it all worked.Perhaps on Dell the solution is similar. For some reason, Windows 10 installation does not add a shortcut for the Nvidia control panel as it does for the Intel Graphics that only controls the laptop screen, so I had to hunt for it.
I have a laptop connected to two dell monitors via usb to docking station. What worked for me was disconnecting the USB that connects to the docking station, closing the lid, waiting a few seconds and then plugging the usb back in.
My Lenovo P50 has an Intel and nVidia gfx card, so if I disable nVidia, the laptop screen continues to work (by the Intel gfx). If you only have one graphics card, the after disabling it you might stay with no active display at all, so you can not re-enable it. Maybe a script would help...
If there is an issue with a device that is plugged into a Videooutput, network or audio output on the dock then this does go through theDisplayLink chip so we can provide troubleshooting assistance
Important: Please ensure that your docking station or video adapter are DisplayLink powered and have DisplayLink chip built into it. You should be able to see a sticker with DisplayLink logo on the product. You should also see instructions in the user manual or on the manufacturers website to download and install DisplayLink software.
The DisplayLink chip in the dock runs DisplayLink firmware. The firmware image must be digitally signed by DisplayLink otherwise the DisplayLink chip will not run the firmware. The firmware in the dock ensures secure communitcation between the dock and the host computer over USB or wireless.

I have a EliteBook 8560p which is plugged into my docking station (HP 2012 230W Advanced Docking Station(A7E38AA)). I have 2 monitors plugged in 1 via DVI and 1 via VGA. Both monitors are ACER and they both work, I have confirmed individual on a another computer.
This issue affects the UD-ULTCDL (original version), UD-ULTC4K (original version), and UD-3900PDZ docking stations along with any connected USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices, including the two DisplayLink based video outputs, Ethernet, and audio controlled by the DisplayLink USB Graphics chipset. The primary USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode based video output and connected display should remain functional after reboot. Charging should also be unaffected.
For most users simply unplugging the docking station from the computer, waiting 10-15 seconds, then reconnecting the docking station will restore the functionality, if this does not help please try these additional steps to fully reset the docking station and computer:
We are hopeful this issue may be resolved by a future update to macOS but do not have a timeline for such a resolution. We will update this article periodically as we learn more. As of macOS 14.x Sonoma we are still seeing occasional reports of this issue.
