Rail-Trail Improvements
Breakiron Road Trailhead (aka Mellons Chapel Trailhead)
The expanded and upgraded Breakiron Road Trailhead is open with 16 parking spots near mile 6 of the Deckers Creek Rail-Trail. This project improved drainage and expanded the trailhead from 6 to 16 parking spaces. As one trail user said “It starts the most beautiful and scenic section of the trail, heading upstream, of the rushing waterfalls and rock outcrops. A much-needed and appreciated improvement!”

Thank you to our contractor Mountain Valley Resources and to our funders and donors!

Deckers Creek Trail Restoration
Carnegie Street to Rock Forge Lane
Mountain Valley Resources upgraded drainage and restored a 10ft wide trail surface on the Deckers Creek Rail-Trail. This work was just outside of Morgantown city limits from Carnegie Street to Rock Forge Lane. Before this work, this section had spots eroded down to the ballast and showing our railroad past.

Thank you! to our contractor and funders
