Good Morning Everyone,

Are we enjoying this beautiful Sunday, the weather is nice and cool (or at least it was). Me, I have decided to take a day off from riding and will clean out my garage (or at least that was the plan).

Some updates from the Colorado Riders Club (CRC), that will affect us all in the coming months.

1.       The CRC has chosen to go back to a FEE Based Club. The experiment of a FREE club simply did not work, we began to unravel, everything was too loose. We will soon announce the Re-Introduction of an annual membership fee of $20.00. This fee will be required for all Members who wish to participate and help support the expenses the club has and will continue to endure.

2.       We are introducing a RACE TEAM for 2013 and beyond, after a few years of being asked it is now time to make the commitment. We have several persons that already wish to be on the CRC Race Team. Stay tuned for more details.

a.       Membership for racing will be an additional add on to the basic membership fee for the CRC.

b.      Still to be discussed, but we are considering the following as the racing side of the CRC. No firm commitments on all three possible groups yet. Some feedback would be appreciated.

                                                               i.      CRC Masters Racing

                                                             ii.      CRC Women’s Racing

                                                            iii.      CRC Juniors Racing

c.       Some questions regarding the aspects of a race team

                                                               i.      Should the CRC incorporate your racing license registration for both the ACA and the USAC into your membership fees?

ii.      Are you interested in racing with CRC?

iii.      Do you have any suggestions on Team Sponsors, we have a couple already, but a couple more would not hurt?

iv.      What are your suggestions on how the CRC should approach the Racing side of cycling?

                                                             v.      We want to hear from you, so please communicate back direct to the CRC info address, in...@crclub.org

3.       We will soon be working on updates to the website, to incorporate many changes to include the Race Team and a variety of other updates, keep checking it out when you can (www.crclub.org)

4.       As easy as this new way communications should have been for 2012 the experiment for the CRC to have a Google Groups address is not working well. We will phase this method of communication out, not to worry, it will not happen overnight. We recognize making changes takes time. But just a heads up on the pending change.

5.       Soon Martyn will be opening up a Team Store so everyone can go online and order additional clothing for Winter and for 2013. Did you know we already have a Jersey, Vest, Jacket, Arm Warmers, Cap, and Bib Shorts. We also have a designated Team Sock but not from our current supplier, we will supply these separately.

a.       We are hoping to get more women involved in the clothing process, so we can order full kits specific for women. If you have an interest in ordering a women’s only set of CRC clothing, please let us know so we can get to work on that.

b.      We will not introduce any changes in the current kit designs, they will be ordered as is.

c.       Regarding a future Jersey for the CRC Racing, we will look at a small re-design simply adding logos to accommodate sponsors, this will take place hopefully before the end of October. We will make sure to design a Jersey that will work with our existing Vest, Jackets, Bibs, Arm Warmers and Caps, and will look at additional items if needed.

d.      Note: If you are riding with the CRC in France next year for the Tour de France trip, we are hopeful you will have a kit to wear during this trip. It would be great to see the CRC all over the TDF 2013.

6.       Although I am sad to say that Summer is nearing its end (I cannot believe it has passed so fast this year) this does not mean we are stopping riding. The opposite is happening, we have added Saturday rides back to the calendar,

a.       We continue with the Tuesday night challenge

b.      We also still work in partnership with Lifetime Fitness on the Thursday night ride

c.       Starting September 9th thru October 27th Creekside bikes will be hosting “Tour de Donut” a great casual ride starting from the bike shop to Krispy Kreme’s near Park Meadows. This ride will be all on the Bike Path and will take a casual pace. So dust off those cruisers, bring out the fixies, get on those bikes and ride to have a Donut and Coffee and more importantly to meet friends. I am looking forward to a nice conversation pace ride. A great way to end the riding season.

d.      Look for Martyn to introduce another series of climbing rides

e.      Bill is thinking of some Mtn Bike rides

f.        Anyone interested in some CycloCross riding, let’s get ready for Cross Season it is just around the corner?

g.       Some other notable events.

                                                               i.      Viva Bike Vegas – a good excuse to go to Vegas and ride a bike, check it out. I am going along with Martyn again this year, we had a great time last year. We had an escorted ride down the Vegas Strip at 6am, of course the only persons out were the drunks and other persons of the evening, but they did not care, they were cheering for us like it was the lead out for the Tour de France, it was pretty fun.

ii.      El Tour de Tucson – anyone interested in attending this event this year. I missed it last and would not mind going again. It is always the weekend before Thanksgiving.

iii.      Resolution Ride – Always January 1st, stay tuned for more details.

iv.      Hess Hill Climb Series – starting in Late Winter into Early Spring this series will continue, it is a lunchtime ride to help the racers get ready for the upcoming race season. More details to follow.

                                                             v.      Black Forest Classic – this event will continue and it is growing – the CRC will play a more active role in this event for 2013.

vi.      Dirty Century – break out the CycloCross/Mtn bikes or just put the fat tires on any bike you can and come on out for a great ride on roads with little to no cars. This will take place in June 2013.

So as you can see so much is happening, keep checking the website, as this will be our primary method of keeping everyone updated.

Happy Riding Everyone, the end of 2012 is going to be great and 2013 is going to be amazing.

Sportsmanship - Teamwork - Strength - Character - Discipline - Dedication - Goodwill

Don,

I've got a son who might be interested in juniors racing. Racing is not for me but plan to get more active in the club.
