Good Evening Everyone,
A few days ago I announced a possible trip to the Tour de France in 2013, the 100th Riding of the TDF. This is going to be an EPIC trip, where we get to ride the tour route, see a variety of stages, visit with pro teams, stay in great hotels, ride bikes, have full mechanic and sag support, meals and so much more.
We have chosen to go with “Trek Travel” and so far four of us have made our $1,000 deposits, there is another seriously interested and a few more that have expressed an interest as well.
Tour Details
· When: July 2013
· Where: France – Final Routes will not be announced until November, 2012
· Details: Because the final routes have yet to be announced, there is no way to confirm exactly which week or route we will be taking until November 2012. So here’s the deal. Because this is the 100th year of riding, the tours are filling up fast. Right now Trek Tours informed me they are more than 50% full and expect to be 100% prior to the release date of the actual tour routes in November.
o So what happens next?
§ If you are serious about going, please contact Kari Kruckow @ Trek Tours (kari_k...@trektravel.com) or call her at (866) 464-8735 and tell her you are interested in traveling with the Colorado Riders Club in 2013 for the Tour De France. You can also reserve your space online, but please make sure you list with Colorado Riders Club when they ask for traveling partners name. It would be easier to contact Kari.
§ Do you want to know more about the possible routes or what is offered with Trek Travel, check out their website and see what they did in 2012.
§ So the scoop on money.
· You make a $1,000 deposit NOW, do not wait as they may not have space, making the deposit guarantees you a place.
· When the routes are announced in November, Trek Travel will inform each of us what tours will be available and how each will cost.
· Kari, will send to us all of the route information and the cost, I will contact everyone and discuss, so we can all make a decision as to when and where we could all like to travel. We will have one week to make our final decision, at this time you can OPT out and get a full refund of your deposit, or we make a choice on what we are going to do. I am hopeful we can all agree on what is to be done.
· Airfare is not included, we are on our own to get there.
§ As for the routes: I know some of us have already discussed 2nd Week as this traditionally is the climbing week and a chance for us to ride bikes on Alp’d Huez or some other mountain top that happens to be on the 2013 tour. Depending on the cost, I am consider as two others are also considering adding the 3rd week.
§ Depending on cost, for the 3rd week, I may consider go on my own and get to the end, prefer to do it with the group and tour, but it all depends on cost.
§ Bikes are included in this tour, however I am most likely going to personally upgrade to a better bike, and will bring my own pedals, shoes, saddle and helmet for a near to home riding experience
§ There is a capacity of 25 per group, if we are lucky enough to get this many going, then we would be moved to a private group which would be even better for us.
So are you ready to take the trip of a lifetime, a bucket list trip, now is the time to commit to “Le Tour de France 2013” we hope you will consider this trip, and put on your CRC Kit and ride in France with us.
Note: If you do choose to go with us to France in 2013, please make sure I am aware of it, so I can create a short list for those going. We will want to train and be ready for this trip as a group if we can. Looking forward to hearing from those that can make it.
Hope to see you in France,
Don Leyn
