Hi,
The Live CD is very old and could be considered as outdated. It is from 2009, and a lot of software development has taken place since then. So, when starting from scratch, I would recommend you to instead download the latest software from opendigitalradio.org -> Software -> MMBtools Releases, and work from there.

I have the CD and can send you the iso, if you still want it, but be aware, that because it contains very old versions of the software, it will only work with one specific hardware combination: The USRP1 with BasicTX daughterboard. The latest software from opendigitalradio.org should work with more or less all Ettus USRP devices and some more including the HackRF.

And, because the Live CD is built on Ubuntu 9.04 from 2009, it might also require an old pc for it to run properly.

Best regards,
Ulrik.

Hi,

it's indeed not a good idea to start with the CRC live-CD.

Please also read the guide, it will give you a good overview of the
current state. It is however lacking a chapter about installation, right
now we expect our users to know how to get a linux system running, have
some knowledge about the command line, how to install the prerequisites
and how to compile the tools. In any case, get in touch with us on the
mailing-list in case of issues.

Guide:
http://www.opendigitalradio.org/releases/mmbtools.pdf

Please also see the chapter in the guide about the HackRF.

Hi all.

We have a working 24/7 install DAB+ on Ubuntu 14.04 herewith lastest software .
Maybe we could make a CloneZIlla image which IMO would permit you to
broadcast in 5 minutes.

That's cool!

Do you know if it would be easy to create a live-USB edition of a
running system ?

Live CDs/installers with the tools can be made on Ubuntu using remastersys. I've not tried it since moving to Debian...

Michael,

If you do this with clonezilla, before taking the image, delete the persistent file in:

/etc/udev/rules.d

Or make sure clonezilla is set to delete it.

If you don't the image will have your mac, and networking won't work on the clones. Don't worry - it should be regenerated on boot! ;-)

You might also want to do something with the keys ;-).

Remastersys sorts all this stuff out for you.

I would really advise against using a 6 year old release. You will miss
features, and you'll be alone in case of issues. Best practices around
these tools have changed a lot, and mostly everybody has forgotten the
details of the old setup.

I hope somebody will have the time to create a live-CD/live-USB with
current releases. Sadly I don't have the time.

Michel

That sounds like a wonderful way to get my system working.  Could you send me a Clonezilla copy (either digitally by email or I'll send you my mail address)?
I want to get a test ensemble working on the bench here, so that I can experiment with a few new ideas....  Anything I develop here will be fed back into the
project of course, for the benefit of everyone (I already work on a few FOSS projects).   My HackRF One should arrive in the next few days!

Cheers

Chris
