Hi all,

encountering problems as seen in the supervisor log

on an incoming stream, on a regular base , i got these readings in the log

What could this indicate ?

Using a cable based internet connection 500 Mb.

What would be the ideal settings of the contributing streams, as for bitrate/samp freq ?

Hi,

I sometimes noticed such VLC errors too. I don't know what can trigger
this, but it depends on the stream source.


Ideal for contributing streams are remotely-deployed odr-audioenc encoders.

Using webstreams leads to encoder cascading, adding more delay and
reduces quality. Use the same samplerate in the webstream as in the
DAB/DAB+ encoder, so that you can avoid resampling.

I've been told AAC-to-AAC cascading is worse than MP3-to-AAC cascading,
but ideally you should use a high enough webstream bitrate so that you
don't hear to strong artefacts.

Hi Jan,

These are VLC errors - If You run the encoder in a terminal You can see if there are U (underrun) or O (overrun) in the In-line.

It may be that the encoding soundcard drifts slightly in the samplefrequency.

We use mp2 384 kbps 32 kHz for the stream from the audioprocessor to the DAB-encoder. In my opinion (with the current AAC codec) 32 kHz sounds best.

A mp3 of 320 kbps would also sound fine.
