Hello.

Finally i got my system working (cannot check for outcoming ETI at the moment but i'll try to dump the stream tomorrow) and all seems running smooth.
Checked connection with iftop and ss and networking is rock-solid.
When i checked the cpu usage i got one of the four cores at 100%, always.

Really the top cpu consuming process was odr-dabmux, but that was strange.
3 cores sleeping and 1 core at 100% .....
Tomorrow i rebooted the system without running the mux and still 1 core at 100%. Strange very strange.

Surfing the net seems ACPI values could drive to this kind of strange beaviuor, so i switched my bios settings rom S3 to S1.
Reboot and now htop shows 4 core idle.

Starting odr-dabmux with 2 incoming ZMQ streams and raw output results ONE core oscillating from idle to max 80% (quite often 30% - 40%).

Server is base on an intel atom 330 motherboard with 2 GB of Ram and a Farsite T1 PCI board. Plan is to remove the little heatsync with fan with a bigger passive one and replace SATA drive with a compact flash to have a completly solid state system (power supply have to be replaced with a passive one).

Hope this post could be usefull to people on the ODR compunity :D

Cheers,

Federico

ACPI bios bug stil accours on more than a motherboard.

At the moment most stable rig is based on an OLD "russian?" athalon XP motherboard with over a xp2400+ cpu and 1.2GB of ram ....

muxing 2 ZMQ surces and writing to Farsite sync at less then 10%

That sound much more reasonable than in your previous email. ODR-DabMux
is not consuming much CPU, even the first raspberry pi is more than
enough for mux!

yes of course .... but the acpi bios bug was tricky ... sometimes it consume a lot of power some time not ....
some chipset and other not ... some kernels and other not .....

Original idea was to use raspberry pi2 like DAB+ encoder and raspberry pi3 connected to usb modulator to receive, mux and trasmit .... but you know about my (supposed?) legal problems with that kind of equipment ...

so I need a pci/pci-e slot and nothing more energy efficient (AND CHEAP) that some laying around the office atom 330 boards.

still wish to make a more powersaving and embedded platform. Working on it now that i have a working platform :D
