SEPTEMBER 10TH
This might be a dangerous idea for a bunch of (competitive)
auditors... =D Geocaching at Northstar Resort. Geocaching is high
tech treasure hunting. Please see the link below for more details.
Basically, you’re hiking with a GPS in search for “cache”/treasure.
You can look for as many caches as you want and hike as much as you
want. You may take the cache but you’ll have to replace it with
something else. There is also a logbook for you to sign at each
cache. However, the park does close at 5PM. We can meet up for
dinner afterwards in the Village to see which teams (we should still
use to buddy system and not hike alone) got the most caches.
Cost: The cost is $10 for a GPS rental (if you don’t have one) and $6
for the lift ticket to get you to the area.

Option for After Hiking: For those of you that want to stay overnight,
you may want to check out the Lake Tahoe Food and Wine Festival. The
Festival is going on that weekend at Northstar. See link below for
more details.

OCTOBER 1ST
Hiking the peaks of at Squaw Valley. This will be a MODERATE to
DIFFICULT hike according to the Squaw Valley Hike Brochure. So, don’t
let the mileage fool you. I’m not exactly sure the mileage but I’m
guessing about 6 miles round trip. We’ll be hike from the High Camp
chairlift to the top of Squaw Peak which is estimated to be 4.4 miles
round trip. However, we’ll be adding on a side trip to Emigrant
Peak. It’s be from A to C to F for Squaw Peak and then to E for
Emigrant Peak.
Cost: The cost is $30 for the lift ticket to get you to the area. If
we have a group of 25 or more, then I’ll call to inquiry about the
group rate of $17 each. So, whenever I get 25 people that show
interest, I’ll place a call to Squaw Valley.
