Kit has grown up on the island of Barbados, loved and pampered by her grandfather. But after his death, Kit must leave. It's not proper for a sixteen-year-old girl to live by herself. She's heard stories about her aunt and uncle who live in the colony of Connecticut. These are the only relatives Kit knows of. So, alone and desperate, she sets sail to live with them in New England.

When she arrives, Kit is shocked by the gray, damp landscape, but even more stunned by the Puritanical lifestyle of her uncle's household. Fitting in is not easy - until she meets Hannah Tupper, an older woman who lives alone and is the only person who lets Kit be herself.

But the colonists believe Hannah is a witch. If they discover Kit is her friend, they will think the same of her. Kit must choose: should she abandon her only friend, or stand by her and risk losing everything?

Johnny can't help being swept along by the powerful currents that will lead to the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Lexington. But even more gripping than living through the drama of Revolutionary Boston is the important discovery Johnny makes about his own life.

The enchanting story of a shipwrecked family - a minister, his wife, and four sons, Fritz, Ernest, Francis, and Jack - who are cast up on a desert island, build a wonderful house in a tree, and survive so cleverly and happily apart from the world that they never want to be rescued.

From the beginning, Matthew's heart is captured by this "kindred spirit" and he decides he wants to keep her. Marilla reluctantly agrees to this, but eventually finds herself absorbed by Anne's chatter, amused by the scrapes Anne gets herself into, and frustrated with Anne always having her head in the clouds.

As Anne grows, Marilla finds her a "genius for getting into trouble." Yet, as Anne says, "have you ever noticed one encouraging thing about me, Marilla? I never make the same mistake twice." Despite her many predicaments, life at Green Gables is happy.

"The world seems to be quite full of grammar books, but it is not easy to find a text today that covers all the bases, still emphasizes diagramming, is not laden with politically correct jargon, and embraces a Christian world view.

I wanted to produce a grammar book that could be used to teach junior-high students as well as high-school or college students and adults, a book that covered many of the aspects of English grammar succinctly; I also wanted a book that could assume the biblical view of language.

In this English grammar guide, Nancy Wilson surveys the major concepts in English grammar for beginners at the late elementary and junior high level (recommended grades 6-9, ages 10-14).

Wilson avoids common, contrived sentences that serve merely to illustrate her point. Instead, she uses many selections from Scripture and from great English writers which help to instruct the student through their content, style, and structure.

If I was taught grammar this way...rather than drill and kill, I believe I would have fallen in love with grammar and language.

Five Stars. Lessons laid out nicely and able to use it at your own pace. Interesting, not overwhelming, understandable - grow in grace

By far the best grammar product we have used. Our daughter understood it with ease and didn't require any help even with diagramming sentences! There is also a wealth of sidebar info. You can't beat it for the price

I was looking for a text that [my son] could work through and then be finished. No more grammar study... I finally settled.

Amazing help for people grasping classical English! Really helped me get a grip.

Lessons are short and sweet and to the point, not much fluff to them. . . printed on nice thick paper, not the really flimsy others we have had.

- Dana

This has been a great help for my children's writing and logic skills.

A more "natural" way to teach the dry subject matter of grammar, Charlotte Mason style.

- Sylvia

I purchased this to brush up on my grammar skills and am finding it to be an excellent tool. Highly recommended!

Nancy Wilson has been a pastor's wife and homemaker in Moscow, Idaho for more than thirty years. She is the author of a number of books including True Companion, Building Her House, The Fruit of Her Hands, and Praise Her in the Gates, and a regular contributor to feminagirls.com. She and her husband Douglas have three children and seventeen grandchildren, which makes for some crazy Sabbath dinners.

There are essentially two strands in the Easy Grammar series for the elementary grades: teaching books and review books. I will use the titles Easy Grammar to refer to the teaching books and Daily Grams for the review books. To make things interesting, Easy Grammar: Grade 1 and Grade 2 both have a format similar to Daily Grams and serve for teaching and review! There are separate teaching and review books for all other levels.
