Federal investigators are sounding the alarm over a growing, violent network of online predators—known as "764"—who use popular apps and gaming platforms to befriend and manipulate young people. These predators coerce children into escalating acts of self-harm, animal abuse, and even suicide, all while demanding video proof to share or use for blackmail. FBI officials say the abuse is often live-streamed to others in the network.

This is among the most disturbing threats our children face. The FBI currently has over 250 active investigations tied to the 764 network, with cases in every U.S. state. Victims have been as young as nine.

We urge you to help raise awareness and take proactive steps to keep children safe. Here is a checklist of ten things you can do to protect kids.

Education Matters

Alerts like this one from the FBI continue to highlight the importance of education.

* When we're able to speak to students, we are able to share with them the warning signs we typically see with grooming behavior. We are able to equip and empower them so that should they be experiencing this kind of behavior now or in the future, they will know steps to take and that they are not alone.

* When YOU continue to learn and grow in awareness, you can make sure you are involved in the lives of your kids or those around you in your community to help support a teen who may be actively groomed.
