Advancing Cancer Prevention Through Oral Health --Special thank you to Mana Mozaffarian, DMD and the Pennsylvania HPV/HBV Related Cancers Workgroup for these highlights.
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the HPV vaccine this year and recognize Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, Pennsylvania highlights our efforts to engage dental providers in preventing HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers. This work reflects a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and expanding the role of oral health in cancer prevention.

**Please note that the latest 2022 PA Statistics Dashboard now shows that more than 2,000 Pennsylvanians are diagnosed with oral and pharyngeal cancers annually. Link to data: Microsoft Power BI
2. In the above attached document are the highlights of Pennsylvania’s cancer prevention efforts that included, exploring dentistry’s role in preventing HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer, recognizing the risk of disease progression into the oral cavity. This aligned with the emerging federal guidelines at the time.
